"Derek, hurry!" Meredith laughed as they were walking into the store to buy some baby furniture

They both had been working today. Meredith was working at a bookstore a few hours a week

"Give me a minute" Derek chuckled and ran after her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her cheek softly. He noticed her limp was back when she was tired, just like now but she was 7 months pregnant so he could understand it

"We only need a crib in the living room and a carseat" Meredith smiled. She felt like a real mother as she stroke her hand over her stomach

"Mer, look at this crib" Derek gasped as he saw a beautiful grey crib

"Oh this is perfect" Meredith gasped as stroke her belly

"I can imagine our girl laying down in this crib" Derek breathed and put his hand over Meredith's

"I almost can't wait" Meredith softly said as she leaned into Derek's touch "Our little baby girl" She giggled

"Let's go find a carseat so we can pay and head home again" Derek kissed her cheek and grabbed her hand. They eventually picked a car seat and paid for everything

"Are you still going to med school?" Meredith quietly asked, her voice shaking

"We'll see once I finished college" Derek kissed her forehead and lead her to the the car

"I-I don't think.. I don't think I can be a doctor" Meredith quietly said

"Hey, that's okay. You don't need to" Derek smiled and stopped her from walking

"My mother.. She always said I had to be a doctor" Meredith started tearing up "I never thought I'd do another job" She sighed but Derek wrapped his arms around her and just held her despite her stomach holding them from a tight cuddle

"Shh, it's okay, Mer. You have time, we can think about this" He kept rubbing her back softly as he noticed her anxiety kept getting worse as her hands kept shaking despite him holding them "Let's go to the car really quick. It will all be okay, I'm holding you in my arms" He said as he led her towards their car and helped her sit down. He grabbed her meds out of her purse and kissed her cheek before helping her take her meds

"I wanna go home" Meredith quietly whispered

"Okay, we're going home now. We can lay down a bit before we have dinner" Derek kissed her hand, closed the door and got in himself. He held her hand the whole ride home "Mer, we're home" He said as he noticed she hadn't made any movements to get out of the car so he had opened her door

"Oh-" She gasped and let him help her out

"Shh. Let's just go inside, babe" Derek led her inside and saw Amelia running towards them but he gave her a sign so they'd get some time for themselves

"What if I mess up our baby?" Meredith asks Derek as they enter their room

"You won't, I know that" Derek helped her out of her shoes and jacket and helped her lay down. He wrapped his arms around her body and kissed her neck softly as he kept whispering soft things to her to assure her they would be fine

...

"Derek, Meredith?" Carolyn knocked on their door

"Mom" Derek breathed

"Hi, dear. Is Meredith okay?" Carolyn frowned as she saw Meredith laying in Derek's arms

"She's feeling a bit anxious today" He tried to smile so she wouldn't get worried

"I'll bring your dinner upstairs, Amy has had way too much sugar, she would only cause Meredith's anxiety to get worse" Carolyn said and closed the door only to return a bit later with two plates

"Mer, wake up" Derek kissed the tip of her nose "Mom made us dinner, we can have it here instead of downstairs" Derek explained as he brushed his hand through her hair as she slowly opened her eyes

"Okay" Meredith shakily nodded and buried herself in Derek's arms as he started eating and she slowly took a bite as well

"That's it. We can take a bath afterwards, or watch a movie. You can decide" Derek kissed her forehead

"I just wanna lay in your arms" Meredith muttered and stopped eating after a couple of bites "Can I hold it for later?" She quietly asked as she felt a knot in her stomach

"Of course. Let me take it downstairs to the fridge" Derek kissed her head "I'll be back before you know"

Meredith buried herself in her blanket as she waited for him to be back. She heard her mother's words as she was lost in thoughts and it was causing her heart to beat rapidly

"Mer?" Derek pulled her out of her bad thoughts as he held her in his arms "Focus on your breathing, sweetie. It will all be okay, I promise you"

"I love you and our bean so so much" She quietly whispered and rested her head on top of Derek's chest

Later that night Carolyn had brought ice cream for Meredith to eat and Amelia had brought her a few of her stuffies in a try to help Meredith who was now asleep in Derek's arms

"I'll always protect you and our baby" Derek promised he
