I smile as i stand in the doorway looking at Flo holding a dress in front of her before sighing and throwing it on the growing pile on the bed. She pulls out yet another dress and throwing it on the pile sitting down in defeat. I walk up to her and pull her up wrapping my arms around her.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" I whisper. "Dont know what to wear..." She mumbles nestling her face in my chest. "Well, it seems you have plenty of dresses here so..." I say waiting for her to start protesting but she doesn't.
"I know..." She sighs. "So, what is really the problem sweetheart?" I ask her. "I am nervous i want your family to like me..." She murmurs. "They will sweetheart, plus they will not care what you wear. You could wear just sweats and one of my hoodies and they will not even blink." She sighs. "Might as well because i dont know what to wear...Please help me..." I let her go and look at the pile pulling out a green sun dress. "Wear this it will make your eyes pop...." She looks at me and smiles. "Okay." she says.
I look at her stunned. "Wow that easy?" She nods. "If you like it i will be okay..." She says giving me a little smile. "I prefer you without sweetheart..." I whisper in her ear, and she shivers.
She steps out of my reach putting on the dress looking in the mirror before getting some shoes. "Perfect..." I say smiling at her when she walks out the closet. She smiles shyly back, a blush creeping on her face. She puts on some perfume and smiles at me. "I am ready to go..." She says picking nervously at her dress. I pull her in my arms again putting my finger under her chin making her look up at me. "They will love you sweetheart..." I say giving a soft peck on her perfect lips. "Better?" I ask her and she smiles. "Yes, much better as long as you keep kissing me, I will be fine..." She whispers. I chuckle kissing her again. "We really should go because if I keep kissing you, we will never get to the barbecue......" I growl. She giggles and steps out of my reach. "Well let's go then...." She says taking a deep breath. We grab the dessert Flo made and we walk out of the house holding her hand in mine as we make our way over to ma's house. The dogs following us off leash.
The driveway is full of cars, and I groan thinking it would be only family, but I can see a few cars from some family friends to. "Something wrong?" She asks. "There are more people than she said over the phone..." I say letting out a sigh. "Okay..." She says looking at me unsure. "If you're not comfortable we can go home..." I say wanting her to know i wouldn't mind. "No." She says taking a deep breath. "Let get it over with just check in on me every now and then..." She says her eyes pleading at me. "Oh, sweetheart don't worry I am not letting you out of my sight...." She giggles and we walk in through the door.
We walk to the kitchen where ma, Shanna and Carly are busy preparing the food. "You came!" Ma says smiling at Flo as she wipes her hands walking over to us wrapping Flo in a hug. She graciously hugs her back. Next are Shanna and Carly hugging her. "Okay that is enough..." I say pulling her back next to me wrapping my arm around her shoulders kissing the top of her head. "Possessive much?" Shanna smirks. "Very..." I say grinning back making Flo giggle. "We made desert..." Flo says pointing at the big container in my free hand. "We?" Shanna says laughing. "Hey! I helped..." I say looking at Flo for back up. "Yes, you did...." She says patting my chest smirking. "You helped by tasting..." She says making everyone laugh.
The dogs get restless waiting for attention, and we laugh as ma and my sisters shower them with kisses and cuddles. "Is there something I can help with?" Flo asks. "No sweetie, we have got it covered. You, Chris and the dogs go out back everyone is already here. Go mingle. Oh and Chris... uncle Tony is here..." Ma says looking serious at me.
