AND AS IF THINGS COULD'NT GET WORSE. Casey walked to the station after school. She mapped out in her head how she would ask her father for a night of freedom on her way there. But when she arrived her father was nowhere to be found.

Casey walked up to the older lady sitting at her behind her desk, "Hey, Flo. Where's my dad?" Flo stared at the teen with glossy eyes, and she became worried, "What's going on?"

Flo got to her feet and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, "You might want to sit, sweetie." Casey sucked in a breath of air only for it to get caught in her chest. What was happening in her small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Hawkins. The place with no real significance, nothing to put it on the map. But there would be now. First, the disappearance of a young boy and now a suicide of a good man.

It didn't add of up to Casey. Benny was happy. He loved his diner, his customers, his friends. He never looked like he was struggling. But looks could be deceiving, she thought to herself. Maybe he was just good at faking it. Nonetheless, it didn't feel right. It didn't feel real.

She couldn't imagine how her dad was feeling. Seeing one of his greatest friends like that. As if he hasn't been through enough, let's add more on top of it.

Casey waited for Hopper's in his office. Sitting in a chair bouncing her leg and picking at her palm. And when Jim came through the door, she looked at him with red eyes and tear-stained cheeks. Shooting from her seat, she wrapped her arms around her father's torso. He engulfed her, cupping the back of her head then pressing a kiss to it, "I gotta talk to someone real quick, then I can take you home."

"Actually, Dad." She sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve, "Steve invited me to a little get together at his house tonight. If you don't want me to go, I understand—"

Jim stopped her, "Of course, you can go. If you want to." Did she want to go? Now she was even more unsure than before. She didn't want to leave her dad alone after the events of today. And as if he could read her mind, "Don't worry about me. I'll be alright. I was gonna be out late again anyway. You'd be home alone."

After hearing that a weak smile reached her lips, "Yeah, I wanna go."

He gave her the whole, "no drinking and no drugs speech" on the way over or he'd come busting the whole thing. She couldn't guarantee the others, but she knew she wouldn't. She wasn't allowed to leave unless it was him picking her up or Steve driving her home, sober. Which was fair with everything happening. She told him who else would be there, and he gave her crazy eyes, "You're gonna hang out with those assholes?"
