CASEY WAS PREOCUPPIED THE REST of the way to the junkyard. Her mind racing. What could it mean? The trees, the pumpkins. Was there something infecting Hawkins? Like a plague? She hoped that wasn't true. However, nothing else made sense, but what was logical about any of it. She was in the middle of throwing meat on the ground to catch the attention of a monster from another world. The Upside Down. She thought back to what El, the boys, and even her dad said about the Upside Down.

It's like their Hawkins, but dark and cold. The atmosphere is toxic, or that's what they're led to believe. Casey thinks that if that was the case, Will would not have survived as long as he did. But she was no scientist, or doctor, so what did she really know? At the end of the day, it all led back to the Lab. All of it.

At the end of the railroad tracks, Casey, Steve, and Dustin walked up to an open field occupying rusted run-down cars. Scrap metal and meaningless junk that no one wanted. The teen girl was reminded of when she came here with her dad nearly a year ago to save a young group of kids. That was the first time she met Eleven.

El.

It hadn't occurred to Casey how long she hadn't been home. Two days didn't seem like a long time, but she knows for Eleven that it probably felt like a lifetime. And knowing her dad, he's taking every opportunity to avoid having to go home to see her. Not because he didn't want to, but because when he did, he knew he would have to talk about what happened. Maybe it was good the two spent some time apart. It gave the other time to think. And hopefully this would all be over soon so that Casey could go home. But not until Hawkins was safe again.

Steve sighs beside the teen girl. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, this will do." He said as he removed the sunglasses that he seems to have wherever he goes now. He started walking toward the middle of the yard, "This will do just fine. Good call, Case."

She followed him, "I know, I'm a genius."

They dumped the remainder of the raw meat into a pile for the start of their trap. Over their shoulders, a young voice shouted, "I said medium-well!"

Lucas had a big grin and waved excitedly. He looked ready for battle, a bandana around his head and his 'wrist rocket' sticking out of his backpack. However, he wasn't alone. A girl their age with long fiery red hair stands with her hands stuffed in her pocket. She appeared much less ecstatic to be there with them.

"Who's that?" Steve was the first to ask. And when Casey looked over, waiting Dustin's response, she gauged his reaction to the girl. A little sad, maybe a little upset. The was a face she was all too familiar with. This was the girl.

Dustin left no time for formalities, snagging Lucas away for a 'super-secret conversation' leaving Steve and Casey with the new girl. Steve wasn't interested in introducing himself, only in barking orders, despite the fact that this was all of Casey's plan sprinkled with a little Dustin. She thinks he likes the authority.
