BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. Casey slammed her hand down onto the snooze button, still half asleep. Her desire to go to school was non-existent. She didn't even have a desire to leave her bed. Her head was pounding, her eyes hurt, and her body was weak. She was still in her clothes from the night before. She was a damn train wreck.

There was a subtle knock at her door, and she groaned in response. It opened with a squeak, and Casey only moved her eyes to look at the man peaking his head in, "Morning." The teen waved lazily, barely lifting her arm, "You gonna get ready for school? Shower's free."

"Do I have to?" Casey mumbled, moving some of her hair out of her face.

Hopper answered fast, like he already anticipated her asking, "Yes, you have to."

Rubbing her eyes, she propped herself onto her elbow, "Can't I just...tag along with you today?"

He wagged his head, "Not today, kid."

She raised a questioning brow, "Why not?" He didn't answer. Instead gave he gave her a suspicious gaze and snuck away. Which told her he was hiding something and that was enough to get her onto her feet to follow after him, "Dad, what aren't you telling me?"

"Police business, Casey." He answered monotonously as he poured himself a cup of coffee.

Casey scoffed, "Police business, my ass. That's never stopped you in the past."

The palm of his hand smacked the countertop, "Then how about this? Because I'm your dad, and I said so. You don't need to worry about it, capiche?"

Tongue in cheek, she nodded, "Capiche."

Casey couldn't concentrate. Her mind was elsewhere thinking about everything except school. She wanted to know what her dad was keeping from her about Will's case. She couldn't get that stupid image of Steve and Nancy together out of her head. And that noise she heard in the woods on her way home. On top of that, Jonathan's been MIA all day.

The final bell ring for sixth period and Casey was out of her seat faster than she ever has been before. She saw Jonathan's car earlier, so she knew he was at the school, and she was on a mission to find him because he was her ride home.

Navigating the crowded halls with her books flat against her chest, pushing through students left and right she spots who she's looking for ahead of her, "Jonathan!" He stopped, turning to look behind him locking eyes with Casey. She sighed in relief, "Hey."

"Hey," he responded with a small smile.

"I haven't seen you all day."

Jonathan swallowed thickly, "Uh, yeah. I had elective stuff."
