(Trigger Warning: Death)
Yeonjun listened to the sound of the gravel and dirt beneath him crushing under his shoes, making crunching noises in unison with the same sounds that came from the others walking along the small path amid the forest. The ground was still wet from the rain that must have occurred last night in this area. Water drops fell down from the leaves hanging above them and the air smelled fresh and moist.
Through his ears played a random song. After having to deal with the silence for too long, Yeonjun couldn't stand it any longer but he made sure to play it as quietly as possible to still fully concentrate on Beomgyu.
Beomgyu was walking beside him in silence, looking down at the ground, focusing on not walking into any puddles. Talking with him about his brother would be a bad idea so Yeonjun just kept quiet about it. But he still wanted to lift the mood a little, though not knowing how to do it.
After walking past a big puddle, Beomgyu got pushed aside as the back of someone's head was shoved right into his face. Beomgyu clutched himself onto Yeonjun's arm to prevent himself from falling into another small puddle to his right.
"Do I still smell like peaches?" Yeonjun asked and raised his head to look at Beomgyu's face which was closer than he first realized.
"I almost fell into a puddle, you jerk!" Beomgyu exclaimed and gave Yeonjun an annoyed glare. Yeonjun stayed quiet and waited expectantly for an answer to his question at which Beomgyu only sighed.
"Yeah, very much. I could still smell it when you weren't shoving your hair into my face."
"Well, it's a pretty good shampoo, there's that."
"Of course it is, I gave it to you." Yeonjun looked at Beomgyu with a smile before he turned his head forward again. The path seemed to never end.
Beomgyu's gaze lingered on his face. He lifted his hand and tousled through his hair, his annoyed glare turning into a mischievous grin.
"Uagh!" Yeonjun grunted while covering his head with his arms to avoid Beomgyu from further ruining his hair. He only chuckled amused.
"Your fault for almost killing me!"
"It's just water, you punk! Scared to ruin your expensive clothes?" Beomgyu walked in front of Yeonjun with his face turned to him. His grin grew wider with every little comment that Yeonjun made and a laugh escaped his mouth before he started to walk faster.
"Wanna tussle it out?" He asked with a provoked tone, reinforcing it more with his gloating smirk. Yeonjun ran his hand through his hair to fix it as he panted softly.
"Oh, you want it that way, huh?" Yeonjun ran towards Beomgyu, who was already running away from him, having a head start on the sudden race. Beomgyu was a few meters ahead of Yeonjun and his ability to walk really fast made it harder for him to catch up. He saw him looking over his shoulder to give Yeonjun a wide grin followed by an airy laugh due to getting more out of breath with every step he took.
Yeonjun returned his grin with a feisty smile while running faster at Beomgyu than before.
He could feel the fresh air brushing against his skin while running through the moist forest. Running straight across the gravel path wasn't possible as Yeonjun needed to constantly walk past the puddles to avoid getting his shoes wet. But the puddles gave him an advantage as Beomgyu needed to also slow down because of them.
The path almost ended at an empty road that wasn't littered with dirt and gravel but was tarmac coated instead. Beomgyu slowed down even more, for there was no longer any possibility of running away. Yeonjun finally catched up with him and swung his arms around his waist as soon as he was within reach. He stopped running and held himself onto Beomgyu to catch a breath.
