Beomgyu's eyes laid on Yeonjun. He rested his head against the headrest of his seat and watched Yeonjun looking forward to the many cars before them. The sun already got swallowed by the horizon and the night sky was spread above them. The street got lighted up by the car lights, red and white colors being separated through a gray, metallic separation between the traffic. The highway was in the middle of the woods, trees and grass bordered the roads and nature. One being completely lit, the other staying in complete darkness.
Soobin stared at the piece of paper in his hand, trying to memorize the order of the numbers being written on it, but not quite yet succeeding in it. It was quiet in the car. No music was playing and Beomgyu wondered what Yeonjun was feeling right now. His grip around the steering wheel wasn't tightened nor were his knuckles pale white. Yeonjun's face wasn't pain-distorted, but showed a calm expression as he took one hand off the steering wheel and reached over to Beomgyu's face. He put one finger under his chin and gently pushed his head upwards in a quick motion, breaking off Beomgyu's staring he was doing at the moment.
"Stop staring." Yeonjun grinned and took a quick glimpse of Beomgyu, his fingers still lingering around his face, touching his bottom lip carefully. Beomgyu's cheeks heated up in a speed and he took Yeonjun's hand off his face and wrapped his fingers around it.
"If you can stare, so can I." Beomgyu looked down and played with Yeonjun's fingers in order to wash away the flustered blush in his face.
"You can stare at me all you want." Yeonjun turned his head to Beomgyu.
"But don't think I won't tease you for it." He freed his hand from Beomgyu's grip and stroked his cheek with his fingers before putting his hand back on the steering wheel.
"Well, I can tease you too now when you continue staring at me in class."
"Oh trust me, I won't just stare at you in class. The only thing that's keeping me from staring right now is that I'm a well behaved driver." Yeonjun's delighted smile widened and the heatness in Beomgyu's cheeks began to burn more and more at the sight of his smile. Knowing more and more about his own feelings made Beomgyu go insane. It was overwhelming, astounding.
"'Well behaved.'" Beomgyu repeated and chuckled at that.
"That doesn't usually seem to be the case."
"I'm not usually in the car." Yeonjun looked over to Beomgyu and grinned at him with his eyes telling more than there is to say.
Soobin leaned forward from the backseat and turned up the volume of the music that was previously completely mute. He fell back into his seat and tilted his head down to look at the piece of paper again. Yeonjun took a quick glimpse at Soobin before looking through the rear-view mirror at him.
"Are we disturbing you in your twosome with the piece of paper?" Yeonjun teased him.
"I forgot my phone at home." Soobin explained and repeated the phone number in his head.
"Well, actually I purposely left it at home so my Dad can't call me."
"Talking about ambition."
"I will probably get grounded so I need to remember his phone number in case I have to borrow someone's phone." His eyes were fixed at the piece of paper, unable to look away from the only thing that he got from Taehyun.
"Or you could just keep the paper and hide it very well. I don't think your Dad's gonna make an all-rounder check on your body."
"No, he wouldn't. But I have a feeling that I will lose it." He couldn't lose it. He would try to prevent that.
Yeonjun turned his gaze to the street again and enjoyed the music that was playing through the car speakers now. He looked over to his phone and read the name of the song, 'blushing!' by BETWEEN FRIENDS. The darkness around him and the stars carved in the sky made the song feel more calm and warm than it actually was.
