— dave's pov:

it had been a week since the night with kamryn. i hadn't heard from her or seen since , not even when dropping off kairi. kairi hadn't seen ava either and that made kairi keep a long face. it was like they both ghosted. if kamryn was preventing ava from coming to school to avoid seeing me that was extra as fuck. it was a kiss , she kissed me not the other way around so this stunt was weird and unexpected as fuck.

"i miss ava and kamryn" kairi sighed as i pulled up infront of her school.

"i know princess they'll be back soon" i responded knowing i was clueless.

"i don't wanna go daddy".

she was doing this again. she did this every day this week. saying she didn't want to go and then walk into school with tears down her cheeks.

"i love you kairi you know that okay?"

she nodded with her lip poked out.

i picked her up from the back pulling her to the front on my lap.

"i know you miss ava and kamryn baby but that can't stop you from going to school".

she rested against my chest as i played in her curls.

"have a good day for me" i said as i opened the door getting out with her clutching onto me.

i walked to the school gate with her where her teacher cheesed. i smiled putting kairi onto her feet.

"i love you okay?"

she nodded.

"be strong for me , i'll get you ice cream after school baby".

that caused a smile to form across as a face before she ran into school disappearing from my site.

i gave the teacher another smile before getting back into my car where i pulled my phone from my pocket. i was about to check where this girl was , i didn't like to see kairi upset. i knew kamryn didn't know it was causing kairi to feel this way but it was affecting kairi and what happened between me and her shouldn't affect her or ava.

"wassup with you , you gone ghost"

"no not really , i just haven't seen you"

"neither have we seen ava , seems going ghost to me?"

"she's sick , how the fuck is that going ghost dave?"

"so you couldn't message a nigga?"

"no not really david , im a single mom with no help , i already told you this , i don't have all the time in the world"

i sat in the hospital looking over at ava who was asleep in her hospital bed before looking over at the last message dave sent me.

this nigga was really acting up. the last message really took me by suprise. 'so at night?' , he wasn't my man so i wasn't obliged to message him. he was the father of my daughters bestfriend who happens to like me that's it. i don't see the word man in that anywhere.
