(y/n) and Rifton both sat in the parlor with their head in their hands.
"I can't believe Paddy ate Reggie's passport." (y/n) groaned thinking of all the awful hexes she'll use on that stupid dog once she gets the chance.
"I can't believe Reg just watched it happen like a psychopath." Rifton shuddered.
"He encouraged it." Joan huffed as they side-eyed the two ne'er-do-wells.
"I told him it was a bad idea." Ceres hissed from her place by the window with her nose stuffed into a charms book she found.
Sirius and Regulus stood side by side before the fireplace, sharing a glance at each other with mischievous glints in their eyes.
"The flight leaves tomorrow morning and there's no way reparo is gonna mend it in time." Rifton sighed deeply.
"It's past mending," Joan said glumly.
An owl crashed against the window with a thud making everyone jump and Ceres curse from dropping the book and losing her place.
"Just because it's in Parseltongue doesn't excuse it." (y/n) gave the girl a pointed look as she opened the window and let the poor bird in.
The now dizzy bird face planted onto the floor with an almost concerning splat.
"Why are you the unlucky one?" (y/n) asked the bird as she gently lifted it up and began looking it over for injuries.
Once she was certain the owl didn't have any life-threatening injuries she took the letter that was tied onto its leg and gently set the bird on the window ledge.
Miss Black,
It has come to my attention that you may need to have your younger children with you. It shall be allowed once more seeing as their guardian can't take them back to the States. They are not to bother any of the students' learning, but they are allowed to pick a teacher to tail each day so that they aren't in your office when you are meeting with students. It should be a fairly harmless solution, given that there won't be a giant snake about the corridors this year.
Regards,
A. P. W. B. Dumbledore
It's like he planned on this happening. (y/n) shook her head and handed the note to Rifton who breathed a sigh of relief.
"Next year, I'll have all their papers prepared in duplicate to avoid this happening again," Rifton said sending her a thankful look.
"They are my children, I don't mind getting to spend more time with them. In fact, I invite such an opportunity to present itself." She waved off his concern.
"Is that why you didn't prevent this?" He quirked his brow at her.
"I thought I had." She pouted sending a pointed look at Sirius.
"You can't blame the dog, He's a dog." Rifton shook his head in dismay oblivious to how wrong he is.
"I can and I will. He's smart enough to know better than to follow the provocation of a seven-year-old." That earned a sigh of defeat from the lawyer.
The following day, Reggie gave Rifton a hug and sent him on his way with a big smile and an overly enthusiastic wave. Joan was looking over the list of things they'd need for school and (y/n) was absentmindedly going over what she should get the kids for basic tutoring that didn't require magic as she waved at her friend who looked solemnly at the group waving at him, who felt like he was being sent away to the abyss.
