It is already five and I want to look good for Ryan. I never really felt the need to get super dolled up for a date but with him I want to wow him. He has seen me at almost every stage in life and I want him to be wowed. I slowly look through my closet and decide on a pale olive-green dress with flutter sleeves. It came down to right above my knees and it was flowy. I pair it with white strappy heels and white pearl earrings. I curl my hair a little bit and pull back some pisces to make it feel lighter on my neck. I do my make-up light but beautifully. I don't want it to seem like I am overdoing it so I stop before it can get too heavy. Twenty minutes later and I am walking down the stairs with butterflies in my stomach.
I walk down the stairs and hear the wolf whistles before I even reach the bottom. Knowing what the guys want, I spin in a slow circle. Ryan is staring at me like he has never seen me before. I spent my whole high school life wishing he would look at me like he is now. It kind of takes my breath away.
He slowly walks to me and I take the time to check him out. He is wearing dark jeans and a white button down that is pulled tight across his chest. I want to tell him to skip going to the station, but I don't think my voice would work right if I tried.
He licks his lips as he pulls my waist to him. He whispers in my ear, "You look good enough to eat."
"So do you," my voice comes out huskily. His eyes dilate and he leans down to kiss me. His lips touch mine and the fire starts just like before. I reach my hand to his hair as one of his hand cups my face and the other holds my waist. He kisses me like he is starving for me and I can't help but agree.
"Okay, we get it," Nick yells out. I barely hear him and don't care to listen. Ryan tries to pull away and I just pull him back to me as I flip off my brother. I finally pull away and look up at Ryan. He is smiling at me with so much love in his eyes that it should scare me but it doesn't.
"Okay we are out of here," Ryan says, pulling my hand toward the door.
"Wait, what about the food?" I ask, smiling at his eagerness.
"Already in the truck," he says, pulling my hand again. I just laugh and follow him.
"No more grandkids," Jack yells.
"No promises," Ryan yells back.
"Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with Jack on this one," I say as he opens my door for me.
"Well maybe not tonight, but one way or another he is going to get more grandkids. Might as well let him worry all night," he says with a mischievous smile.
"Sneaky boy," I say, shaking my head at him. He took my hand as he pulled out of the driveway and headed for the stations. The radio was playing an old country song that Ryan was singing along to. While Julian was the musician, all of them were very good singers. I love sitting in the passenger seat, watching Ryan sing while holding onto my hand. It wasn't some stupid highschool fanticy. It was real and beautifully simple. We arrived at the station much sooner than I would have liked. I would have happily spent all night holding his hand in the car. Ryan came around and got to my door for me before grabbing the food.
We entered the station and I turned to Ryan, "Let me do the talking."
"Planned on it," he said smiling.
We walked into the kitchen and Captain John jumped up at the sight of me. "Look at this, the best cook in all of Morro Bay. Did you bring food?" he said, all excited. I smiled at the kitchen full of firefighters. Polly waved at me and I smiled back.
"I did, on one condition," I said with raised eyebrows.
"What's that, darling?" he asked, smelling the pans in Ryan's hands.
"Ryan gets tonight off. I want to spend some time with my boyfriend before we get stuck with a baby again," I said.
"Deal, deal, just hand over the food. I am starving," John said before taking the pans. Everyone laughed at his reaction before making themselves a plate.
"So, when did you two start dating?" Polly asked with wiggling eyebrows.
"Yeah, I was wondering the same thing," Jake said with a mouth full of food.
"Really? Cause I was wondering what baby they were talking about," Tim said.
"We have only been dating for a few days," Ryan said, stretching the truth but that was okay with me.
"And the baby is Chases. Some girl dropped her off yesterday and said she wanted Chase to take custody. We did a DNA test and now I am staying to get everything settled," I said as I made a plate and sat down with everyone.
"Figures everything gets crazy and the first thing they do is call you," Polly said, laughing.
"Hey, we didn't know what to do with a baby. Let alone a girl," Ryan says with a frown.
"Men," was all Polly said. She is my favorite because she is the only girl at the station, and she doesn't take any crap from the guys.
"Well, I can say I like you dating Giana much more than Lisa," John says and everyone nods in agreement.
"I thought you guys liked her," I said with a frown.
"No, we liked making fun of her laugh," Tim says with a snort.
"Asides from that she was kind of a snob," Jake said and I nodded at that. I always thought she was a snob.
"Yeah, well I proposed because her dad forced me to," Ryan said with a shrug.
"Wait what? Who was her dad?" I asked.
"He was the head of the town board and threatened to have me fired if I didn't make an honest woman out of her. He was fired after I outed him," Ryan said.
"Thank god. I hated that man," John said.
"Okay, enough about them. Don't want to scare off G here," Ryan said with a chuckle.
"No kidding, she is already too good for you," Jake said.
"Don't I know it," Ryan said as I blush.
We spent the rest of dinner listening to everyone laugh and tell stories. It was fun to hang out with all of Ryan's best friends. They all treated me like family and I know, without a doubt, that these guys would always have each other's back.
