Jungwon kept hearing that same sentence in his head over and over.
"Abort mission, abort mission"
He knew Niki was only looking out for him. In fact, if everyone else had agreed to the plan, it meant that it wasn't that stupid, right?
"Alright, it is stupid" admitted Jungwon.
Niki let a sigh of relief go.
"You're finally thinking clearly!" he said.
The two friends were in Gryffindor common room. Every comfortable seat was already taken. Some people were just hanging around, enjoying their Saturday evening, whereas some others were doing their homework. There was even a group of first year trying to get "Wingardium Leviosa" right.
"I didn't say I wouldn't do it anyway" replied Jungwon, not looking at the poor first years students anymore.
"What?" asked Niki, putting his feather down, scribbling on his parchment. "Damn it."
"Look it's stupid, but I think this is my best shot" added Jungwon.
"Oh really?" asked Niki in the most condescending and sassy way he could.Jungwon ignored his tone and continued.
"Well, let's think this through: years 5 to 10, we're best friends, hanging out together all the time" started Jungwon.
"Until there I'm with you" said Niki.
"Then, Jay disappears out of nowhere, without giving me any notice" continued Jungwon.
"First red flag" mumbled Niki."Then, I received the weirdest letter saying I'm a wizard. My whole family thought it was a joke" said Jungwon. "But my grandma took me to London and next thing you know I'm here with you."
"That I believe as well" commented Niki
"Of course" replied Jungwon. "So, where was I? Ah, yes, then I arrive here and who should I see peacefully sitting at the Slytherin table? That's right, Jay!"
"Once again, I know, I was there" said Niki."And for three years he ignored me, as if I was nothing to him, but we grew up together. That means something, doesn't it?" asked Jungwon. "It does to me. So I'll make a conversation happen. I need to know what I did for him to ignore me like that."
Niki rolled his eyes so high that they became all white for a second.
"Is that really the version of the story you keep telling yourself?" he asked.
"Well, yeah, I kinda skipped some stuff in the middle, but that's pretty much it" replied Jungwon.
"Well, as you're obviously too busy making absurd plans, let me tell you how that really happened" said Niki.Jungwon frowned.
"All that stuff before Hogwarts is okay, but once you arrived here, things need to be rectified. Firstly, when you saw him during our first day here, you almost fainted. You developed an obsession towards this boy, constantly wondering what you had done wrong, asking yourself why he hated you" started Niki.
Jungwon's expression changed. He looked down, not denying anything that Niki had just said.
"Then, you spent three years, three years, trying to get his attention, craving anything he would agree to give you. And lastly, I will tell you now, because I think you're still not aware of this" continued Niki. "You're in love with him."
"I am what?" asked Jungwon, in total shock.
"You are in love" repeated Niki, insisting on each word. "And it's killing me."
"Why?" asked Jungwon, still not processing the "in love" stuff.
"Won, I'm your best friend. I would die for you, you know that right?" asked Niki.
"Of course, as I would for you" replied Jungwon, as he put the "in love" stuff in a little drawer in his mind and locked it."Well, we're just beginning our fourth year, and you're still obsessed with him. It kills me to see you desperately trying to get his attention" continued Niki. "Please let him go."
He had whispered that last part.
Jungwon didn't reply right away. He was experiencing too many emotions right now. Niki was looking out for him. Even if it was with harsh words, he was doing this to protect Jungwon."Thank you" said Jungwon, whispering as well. "I'm lucky to have you."
Niki looked at Jungwon.
"Of course you are!" replied Niki. "So please don't do anything stupid. I don't want you to be as sad as you were the last three years. Let's try to have a happy fourth one, okay?"
Jungwon nodded.
"Plus we'll need to be in a good mood if we want to survive all this homework and studying" added Jungwon.
"Of course we do" replied Niki, picking his feather up again. "Okay, back to potions."Jungwon continued his homework as well. He liked these quiet moments he shared with Niki. When he thought about it, his life was amazing!
Not only had he the privilege of being a wizard, studying in an amazing school, but he also had a best friend.A real one.
Unlike this Jay that had abandoned him.
Why did he... wait stop.
You said you would let it go.Let Jay go.

Jungwon was laying on his bed, unable to fall asleep. His conversation with Niki was going on and on in his mind, and unfortunately for him, there was a little detail he hadn't focused on before. However, it had come back right to his face, and now he had to deal with it.
"You're in love with him"
Am I really?
~
Jungwon woke up confused. He had dreamed about Jay and Niki, but nothing really made any sense. He didn't know what was real and what wasn't anymore.
Let's get up.
It was better than actually trying to fall back asleep and possibly continuing his weird dream.
The common room was empty, which meant that Jungwon had woken up even earlier than expected. As soon as he walked inside the common room, the fire in the fireplace started. It was one of the little things Jungwon loved about this room. No matter when, it always made Gryffindor students feel at home.
Unfortunately, Jungwon wasn't planning on staying here. He walked though the Pink Lady's portait.
He knew Niki would disapprove. But Jungwon needed to know for him to let Jay go. Plus, he deserved the truth after three years of pain.
Jungwon walked aimlessly through the corridors, not really knowing how this would work. He was so focused on finding Jay that he didn't notice Peeves flying his way.
"What are you doing here?" asked the poltergeist, in his weird little voice. "Student out of bed! student out of bed!"
Damn it
Jungwon started running, trying to find a place to hide. At last, he simply opened a door and found himself in a classroom, but he didn't know which one it was.
He hadn't even caught his breath when the door opened up again, allowing Jungwon to hear Peeves shouting "student out of bed" again."What's your excuse?" asked a deep voice.
Jungwon looked up, but he had recognized the black and emerald green robes.
