Another tiring day, Sage thought to herself as she packed up her work files that were laid out across the meeting room table.
Placing each file carefully into the yellow folder she held out before her, she began to let her mind wander so that it could distract her from falling asleep right then and there.
What'll I eat for dinner? It's somewhat late.., I might as well skip it. I'll eat lots tomorrow morning instead.
Sage finished with putting the files together, then headed towards the glass door and quietly opened and closed it, then took a right turn that headed towards the lounge of the headquarters.
A few of the other agents were still awake; Cypher was at one of the couches messing around with security breaches on his laptop, while Killjoy was in the seat next to him tinkering with her bot with ridiculously silly stickers all over it, causing Sage to suppress a laugh before signaling a 'goodnight' and waving them off.
She made her way past the kitchen and lounge and then into the hallway of the agents respective quarters. Her cell was one of the very first, so passing the two before hers, she came before her door and let out a sigh.
The doors required a hand scan to fully unlock, otherwise it could easily be unlocked from the inside.
Sage put her hand on the scanner, waited a few seconds to let it complete itself, then heard the releasing hiss of the door opening. Stepping into what seemed like pitch blackness, she set down the files on the table right next to the door as carefully as she could, with her eyesight starting to adjust itself to the darkness.
She had no energy to turn on the lamp near her desk, so instead she went to her closet and grabbed whatever seemed fit to sleep in. She felt her hands grab a white robe, which seemed comfortable enough.
Undressing herself in front of the open closet and pitch blackness, her back was turned to the room as she slowly took off her black turtle neck, and when it was completely off, she folded it swiftly but neatly and placed it onto one of her shelves within the closet.
Suddenly, she felt arms around her waist and a head resting on her shoulder. Before she could make a remark at whoever entered her room without letting her know, she instantly recognized that scent. Hyacinth flowers, the scent that Sage had gotten used to from the former empress.
Sage let out a tired sigh, while slightly trying to release herself from Reyna's arms with little effort. She didn't have time for this; she was so exhausted that it was hard to comprehend what was happening.
But before she could tell Reyna to back off, she felt a wet feeling on the side of her neck. Almost instantly, Sage bit her lip to hold any sounds that dared escape from the sudden motion. Was Reyna really giving her a hickey right now?
As much as Sage wanted to tell Reyna to stop, her mind was dizzy and spinning by the pleasure and tiredness.
"R-Reyna.." She managed to utter. "I'm tired.. can we do this another time..?"
To Sage's luck, Reyna obliged and stopped kissing her neck. Mentally thanking herself, she took the chance to unwrap Reyna's loose arms around her waist and quickly put on the robe; only taking off her pants when the robe was fully on.
Reyna retreated to the healer's bed, a self-satisfied look on her face. Although, she felt a bit bad because she'd never seen Sage so tired before, and she had just forced herself onto the former.
She waited patiently for Sage to get into bed so that she could properly apologize, which only took a few minutes as the former had finished getting dressed.
Entering the bed with Reyna, the two positioned themselves into big spoon - little spoon positions, with Reyna being the big spoon for tonight. Usually Sage occupied that, but tonight was just too much.
Almost instantly collapsing into the empress' arms, she felt as though she would fall into a deep sleep any second. However, Reyna quietly spoke to her moments after.
"Ling.. are you okay?" she softly uttered above the former's head.
Sage nodded in response. "Just a tiring day."
Reyna hugged the healer tighter, pulling her closer towards herself and kissed the former's forehead. Sage appreciated the tiny things that the empress did to and for her, because every time that it happened, she'd get a special feeling from it.
Before Sage could drift asleep, she heard Reyna's voice once more and jolted herself awake. She fixated herself on the empress' voice as she spoke.
"I don't mean to be a bother, but what did you call me earlier?" Reyna questioned, sounding a bit saddened and disappointed.
"What?" Sage instinctively replied. Had she said something wrong earlier in the midst of everything? She couldn't even remember if she did.
"Re-" Then Sage cut herself off. "Oh my, 宠儿, I'm so sorry." (darling)
Reyna looked away, still saddened. Sage couldn't help but laugh a little at the way Reyna pouted like a baby upset at the smallest things.
"Zyanya, look at me." She whispered, looking up towards the former and reaching out her hands to grab her face and pull it down towards herself.
Reyna didn't fight back at the motion, and when looking directly down at Sage, didn't say anything at all, which was unusual for her since she always had something to say. Perhaps a little name affected her more than it would with anyone else other than the bastion.
"You know I didn't mean it, I've just been so tired today." Sage continued, her eyes staring deep into Reyna's own. "I love you, okay?"
As if the four words soothed Reyna's heart, she sighed a long breath, and her body physically relaxed. This moment was special to her; whenever Sage told her that she loved her, it felt as though her heart could pounce itself out of her chest.
Sage never really preferred to announce her admiration and love towards the empress publicly. Sometimes, she'd still be embarrassed to say it privately. But, no matter what the case was, it always managed to have its way with Reyna.
Reyna suppressed a light chuckle, causing Sage to look embarrassed, pushing herself into the empress' chest. The smile on Reyna's face was so big, she felt as though she'd smile forever. The little effects Sage had on her were something she'd never get over.
She placed a hand over Sage's head and stroked it, intertwining her fingers within her silky hair. With little effort, Sage fell asleep to the little motions within seconds, and all Reyna could do was smile and thank life for bringing this beauty into her arms.
"I love you, Ling Ying." She whispered above the former's head, before closing her eyes and letting herself fall into a deep slumber.
