Gunshots could be heard from all over, whether it be from Sage's left, right, or backside. She couldn't tell if it were her fellow teammates or the mirror-earth versions of themselves who were shooting those bullets, but she had no time to think about it.
She had her own dangers to deal with.
Running and hiding inside Mid Cubby, Sage leaned against the wall near the corridor entering into A Link. Despite no one on her yet, she had to be extra cautious.
She could hear the muffled shots being fired from all directions, and she was beginning to rethink her decision of making the team split into 3 groups; Cypher and Jett heading towards A with Sova and Reyna heading towards B, then Sage would have to lurk mid by herself to catch the enemies off guard.
Not even a few moments prior had everything been going smoothly. Cypher's voice came over the earpiece that each agent had in order to communicate with each other;
"Everything is set. I've got eyes on Heaven and Link."
"Very well. Jett and Cypher, proceed with caution. It starts right about now." Sage responded instantly. "Sova and Reyna, make your way onto site. If anything happens, let me know."
"Of course, mi amor." Reyna replied abruptly, sounding mischievous as ever.
Sage could already picture the smug smile on her face as she rolled her eyes half-heartedly.
Only two minutes after their last hearing from one another were gunshots fired.
"Aw, shit." Jett abruptly came in through the coms. "We've been found, and we're about to get a lot more than just a single bullet through our heads-- she's got a fucking rocket in her hands!"
"What happened?!" Sage yelled back into the earpiece, ignoring any precautions about being silent.
"We'v- thre- on us!" Jett's coms began cutting in and out, as shots could be heard in and out.
Before Sage could say anything to the former duelist, she heard a beep come through the coms, indicating that Jett must've shut hers off. And to no surprise, Cypher came through his intercom for the last time.
"They're gaining on us. Jett shut off her earpiece in order to focus, but we won't be able to hold our own. They've got us trapped in a corner, Sag-"Cypher's coms cut off abruptly.
Once again, before Sage could say or do anything, Reyna came through. "Sova's tracked two mirror earth's here, nothing we can't handle. We'll be over as soon as possible. Stay safe Sage."
That was the last thing she heard from the duelist.
Back to real-time, Sage was still in Mid Cubby, checking her surroundings to make sure she wasn't followed.
Cautiously, she entered A Link, and the gunshots were even louder. Someone had a vandal and was spraying into Main, so Sage took that chance to loop around to Heaven through Garden.
Entering through, she decided to avoid the window to make less noise, despite the fact that it would be faster. She was about to head onto the ramps when she started hearing static from her earpiece.
Someone had been trying to communicate with the rest of the team but was failing to do so. Enough to distract her, she was oblivious to the person who had been following behind her.
Abruptly, Sage was shot in the shoulder with a ghost, the bullet piercing her flesh and making her yelp in pain. She fell to the floor, her arm on her shoulder to try and somewhat suppress the bleeding.
Turning around in anger and shock, she was unsurprised by whom she was facing. Reyna. Mirror Earth's Reyna. Of course, it had to be her.
"Did you think that I wouldn't notice you were lurking around, Sage?" Mirror Earth Reyna said smugly, twirling the ghost in her hand around.
