Back in the Alternate Universe;
Word of Sage's revival was announced to no one but Reyna and the operatives helping along. Reyna was finally able to meet the woman with the capable radiant abilities to save Sage in the protocol, dressed as an operative so that no one would think she were intruding. The woman's name was Esse. She had light brown hair, black glasses, and wore a sweater whose colors were separated into rectangular rows each consisting of; light brown at the top, soft beige in the middle, and black at the bottom.
After some time of getting to know each other, Esse had informed the duelist of the requirements for the mission.
Because the resurrection of an already damaged body, it would require a lot of life energy to fully bring the person back. If the person(s) controlling the resurrection failed to collect and gain enough life forces, the patient would end up becoming a cripple.
Almost instantly after hearing this, Reyna offered to collect extra souls from the lives she takes out on the battlefield and give it to her. After some consideration, Esse authorized the idea.
From that point on, Reyna would never be seen inside the protocol building unless it was very late at night. Most of the other agents had figured that she might've been busy lately, but they never thought more of it.
The duelist had started taking on more missions than she could handle, but she never once complained about it.
If she ever came back early and was waiting for another mission to be assigned to her, she'd avoid all unnecessary contact with the other agents. The only person(s) she was seen speaking to other than Brimstone and Viper was the woman who offered the ordeal, Vanessa.
However, because of the amount of missions Reyna had decided to take on, she'd been losing days of sleep. Dark eye bags had formed under her eyes, but she didn't care.
The most sleep she'd get weekly would be a 10 minute power nap, but once she was awake, she was up and ready to get back to it. Instead of taking a full day to rest her body, though, she would visit Viper for pills to help with staying up.
After 2 weeks of the duelist visiting the chemist continuously for the pills, she decided to take initiative and confront the vampire.
While preparing the pills for the latter, she sighed a little to herself before speaking.
"Would Sage have liked to see you like this?" A nonchalant tone with a hint of concern towards the end of the question accompanying it.
Reyna didn't reply right away. Instead, she held her empty gaze on the back of the chemist's head with her arms folded.
Viper eventually realized she wouldn't get an answer and finished prepping the pills. She turned around and handed the mini container to Reyna, with the latter looking back neutrally.
The chemist then turned back around to finish up on one of her projects when the door to the lab hissed open and Reyna spoke.
"She would have done the same if she were in these circumstances." Her tone strong and firm, as if it were its own body and mind rather than the tired appearance she had.
Viper sighed though, as the door closed. 'Would Sage really do the same if she works with the balance between life and death?' An internal question the raven-haired woman dared to ask herself.
------------------------------
A few days have past and Reyna has been no different from the days prior.
Ming sighs to herself as she realizes this. She's currently in the main department for medical treatments that Sage once occupied, sitting at her desk contemplating.
