Peril
My whole life was revolves around lies.
Lies and more lies
The second election for the position of the SkyWing Princess was won by Ember, not by me.
I was fine with that, but it was the lies that came after it that made it unbearable.
We had promised each other that if the other one won, then the other one would be made the second in command.
Nope.
Ember won and made Garnet, her boyfriend, her second.
But the election was in the past.
I'm not worried about my status.
Let people think what they want to think.
What's weird is that Darkstalker and his minions are from three thousand years ago.
And that apparently they had the same exact people from our world back then.
I clenched my fists on my seat, my mind whirling.
This wasn't normal.
Well no duh
Was it even possible for someone to be asleep for thousands of years?
The princesses and their seconds were also clearly confused.
"But you said Battlewinner was dead," Moon said. "And that Glory is corrupted. What are the chances that there are another Battlewinner and another Glory that are queens of their respective tribe thousands of years ago?"
Clearsight furrowed her elegant brows. "I foresee the answer," she said. "But it's a confusing one nonetheless,"
"Any answer is better than none," Alligator said.
"We are technically not from a thousand generations ago," Clearsight said. "We're from a parallel universe,"
All the princesses twitched.
"Please," Winter said. "Explain how that's supposed to make sense,"
Clearsight shook her head. "That's the weird part. Making sense of it."
"Are you saying that we should trust you, just like that?" Ember asked.
"I trust her," Moon said. "I'm reading her mind right now,"
The trio gave her the queerest looks."Only certain mutations have mind reading abilities," Darkstalker said. "Im the only mind reader in generations,"
"So am I," Moon said simply.
"I trust Clearsight too," Sunny volunteered.
"It doesn't sound like something worth lying about," Qibli agreed.
"The SandWings will believe you," Sunny said, and a cheer went up from the few rows behind me. I covered my ears. I didn't like loud noises.
A flash of bright light made me blink and see a scene where there was this orange dragon with blue eyes, with fire steaming from her scales, pinning dragons to the ground, them screaming like the crowd behind her, though this was the screams of dying dragons.
I grabbed the armrests in a panic.
The boy next to me quickly moved his arm away from the armrest at my sudden outburst.
What was that? Surely it wasn't normal.
I tried to focus onto whatever the princesses were saying. The cheers that came from the SeaWings, NightWings, and the RainWings showed that they were also going to believe Clearsight, just like the SandWings had.
But each cheer sounded like the death throes of dragons under the talons of what I knew I was going to be.
I was hanging out at the princess's dormitory with clay.
They were having a princess meeting, so I obviously wasn't going to be left out.
Winter, Alligator and Ember were the only ones who hadn't decided on the fact that the 'Trio' was trustworthy yet.
"Prism said that they can be trusted," Winter said. "But I have a bad feeling about it."
"Same here," Alligator said. "But with Sora. She says that Clearsight seems like a genuine person."
"I'm not arguing with Clearsight or Fathom," Ember said. "It's Darkstalker that I'm worried about."
"It's not like they have power here," Tsunami argued. "If anything, we are the ones who have the power,"
"We're just young college students," Ember said. "What changes can we make?"
"Ahem," Glory said. "One, I already own my company, I just have to go to college first. Second, there was a reason for us to be elected as Princesses. If you want to hold onto your position and not give it to Peril, then I suggest you act like a princess and make good decisions."
While they argued, I sat next to Clay on a beanbag chair, thinking about what I saw. I had a drawing tablet out and was vaguely sketching out what I saw. Before I knew it, a golden orange female dragon with strong limbs, white claws and teeth, and bright blue eyes was fully colored on the screen.
I stared at it. It seemed to blink at me.
I wasn't surprised that I drew that. After all, I am studying for an art degree. What I was surprised about was the look I was going to take after when I graduate from Dragon Academy.
I look terrifying.
