Aven
I was simply living my life.
I was a straight A student, I answered questions when asked them, and I was overall a model student.
I was just going through the courses that Winter had offered me.
And then I was here.
Seriously, what did I do to deserve this?
It's like life hates me.
Honestly I don't blame it.
I hate it too.
The feeling is mutual
:\
I was being held by two IceWings like me, their names were Auk and Adelie. I have never been more embarrassed in my life.
I recognized most of the people from my school, although I wasn't entirely sure they knew me. I definitely knew Kinkajou and Riptide, the sister of the RainWing princess/queen and the boyfriend of the SeaWing princess.
The others, not as much.
I know that Peril and Marsh both know Clay, Peril being his unofficial girlfriend and Marsh being his brother.
I have no idea who Flayer is though.
Your average emo NightWing I guess.
The only one not here was the SandWing.
I've heard rumors that it was supposed to be Qibli, but with his genius mind, I'm sure he'll squirm his way out of being captured.
"Attention!" Adelie yelled from behind me, startling the demon out of me. "His Greatness, Sir Darkstalker,"
Who was apparently called 'Darkstalker' waltzed into the room followed by two SeaWings.
I frowned at him. He was not what I expected of an underground cult leader.
He looked like my crazy science teacher.
"Ah hello there young'uns," Darkstalker said breezily.
"LET US GO," Riptide roared at him.
Darkstalker mimicked being blown away by his vocalizations. "W-woah," he said, pretending to look utterly aghast. "Is this how to treat a friend?"
"I should be asking YOU that question," Riptide snarled.
"You seem pretty bold for someone with hair the color of a blue frog," Darkstalker mused.
"At least a blue frog is poisonous," Riptide hissed. "That tall red dude's hair is as bright as my grandmother's sweater,"
"Ouch," Darkstalker said. "I've got to admit that's a rough one. You have got to apologize to him later."
His eyes swept across us. I put as much malicious glare into mine as I could.
"...Pyro," Darkstalker said. "Where's Creosote and Cholla?"
"They should be back any minute now, sir," Pyro said, gingerly holding Peril's wrists together. She growled at him.
On cue, the doors banged open again, and the two SandWings, Creosote and Cholla, came barging in dragging behind them a sandy blonde SandWing.
My heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.
It wasn't Qibli.
(Thank god)
The boy was cute, (I guess,) with the most dangerous eyes I've ever seen. Even Riptide couldn't manage that much venom. The SandWing broke free with a hiss and stood defiantly on the carpets.
"Oh golly," Darkstalker said. "There they are,"
"Apologies, sir," Creosote said, with a bow. "He was quite the handful,"
Cholla reached to grab the boy's wrists again, but he whirled on them, turning into a SandWing effortlessly and raising his tail barb.
"Where am I?" He demanded. "Who are you? Why do you want to harm Qibli?"
"No Qibli," Darkstalker mused. "Pity. I almost thought you were him. You look quite alike in both looks and volume,"
"Thorn will never allow this," the boy snarled, spreading his sandy yellow wings and hissing at Darkstalker.
"Oooooh scary," Darkstalker said, acting out a scared expression. "Kid, Thorn is at Jade Mountain. She won't come just for a street boy,"
"Darkstalker," the SeaWing behind him warned. "Clearsight said to treat them nicely,"
"I am though," Darkstalker huffed. "Look at them, they're all so happy," he gestured to us.
Not a single one of us looked even remotely happy to be here.
"I would check again," the SeaWing muttered.
"Bah," Darkstalker said cheerfully. "Nonsense. They should be lucky to be in the presence of someone as great as me." little sparkles of glitter surrounded his proud and haughty face.
He looked like this:
✨😁✨
Wait...
Glitter?
That glitter had appeared out of nowhere.
Is he an animus...? Like the SeaWing prince and princess?
That would really complicate things.
The SandWing boy snorted. "Stop preening yourself, you oversized rat,"
Darkstalker sighed and walked up to the boy. As a dragon, the SandWing towered over him, but in a flash, a massive NightWing was standing there.
He
was
HUGE.
Even bigger than Morrowseer.
His head almost hit the ceiling.
"Little SandWing," Darkstalker said disapprovingly. "You're getting on my nerves." he turned to Creosote and Cholla. "Bring him to the darkest cells."
He turned to the others. "i'm in no mood to talk now, bring them all back."
And then we were being shoved back into the cold cells.
