„Later." Natsu managed to say before he quickly removed her arms off of him. He could not tell if he'd still be able to hold back if she touched him any longer than that.

„Not fair! You already said that at the hospital." The blonde pouted and attempted to hug him again, but he dodged her in time and jumped back.

He gazed at her skeptically, raising his eyebrow like he always did.
„You have never been so...touchy. At least not with me." Natsu said.
„Why now?" He wondered.

The girl fell silent for a while, lost in her thoughts.

In her dream she had always been so dismissive of him.
She wondered if she had been like that with him in real life too, for him to question her need to be close to him.

„Was I not nice to you before I...slept?" She asked.

„No. You were nice. The nicest and kindest." He said.
„But you didn't like it when I touched you. Especially your stomach even if I just wanted to tickle you." He remembered.

Of course he would not tell her how he'd always tease her and call her fat before trying to get touchy with her.

„My belly?" The girl pricked up.

She bounced over to him and knowingly placed his big hands on her stomach, feeling the warmth of his skin spreading on her immediately.

He widened his eyes at her sudden action, but didn't move an inch.

„From now on I will not stop you from touching me, even if it's my belly." The girl winked and was about to step away again, but was stopped by him.

He pulled her back to him and pressed her petite figure against his toned body, his hands finding room on her small waist.

He let his head sank into the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent like it was a drug.

No matter how much he tried to comprehend it, he still could not fully realize that Lucy was awake.

She was here. Alive and breathing. Smiling at him.

It felt like the accident a year ago had just happened and he still hadn't recovered from it.

He saw how her body hit the asphalt, how her head was cracked open and her torso pierced. How the ground lost it's natural obscure color and turned into a deep red caused by her blood.

He wasn't able to help her. He couldn't protect her.

To this day he still didn't know why she ran right in the middle of the road, why she didn't look after herself like she usually did.

His Lucy would have checked the streets twice or even thrice before even thinking about crossing it.

There had to be a reason why she ran off like that. Why she was hit by a car.

Why she was almost taken away from him.

Why he had to wait a year for her to wake up.
