The blonde had just finished making some breakfast for Natsu and herself when she heard her phone buzzing.

She had woken up extra early and she figured the reason why was because of the pinkette.
Her boyfriend who was so warm and comfortable, causing her to sleep like a baby, making her forget all her worries. A small giggle escaped her upturned mouth.

She clicked to answer the unexpected call and was surprised to hear her mother's voice. She hadn't spoken with her for what felt like a lifetime and it was odd to hear from her so suddenly.

"Lucy, I have some bad news," the elderly said. Her tone worried. The blonde could tell right away, her mother was stressing. She didn't even bother to greet her. This must be serious.

Lucy felt her heart drop to her feet.
What kind of news could it possibly be? Did she already know that she had a fight with her father?

She was scared to ask but knew that she had no other choice since her mom did not seem like she would continue to talk any time soon.

She took a deep breath and asked with an anxious tone. „What happened?"

„Laxus is in the hospital. His injuries are severe." Layla replied. She was still in shock, too. She had just gotten the news from her husband who had been called by Laxus' father earlier this morning.

Lucy's eyes widened, her lips trembling as she dared to ask further. „Is he going to be alright? What even happened?"

„He was apparently attacked last night after he left a club. Several of his organs and bones are smashed...but it seems like his life is not in danger anymore." her mother answered.

„What?! Do they already know who attacked him?" The question shot right out of her.

„Laxus is still not in the condition to talk about it but from what we have heard so far, he cannot remember the attacker's face nor voice. He was drunk, too."

Before Lucy could even think of a reply, Layla continued.

„Your father is not pleased by this at all. He just cut ties with the Dreyar family." The woman said, suddenly changing the direction of the conversation.

The girl was left perplexed. Her eyebrow raised as she collected herself before answering.
„What do you mean? Why would he do that? He always favored Laxus."

„It did not sit right with him how Laxus frequently visits these clubs and gets himself drunk. He suspects he might have gotten into trouble with some...sketchy people which could explain his current condition."

It took a while to process what her mother had just told her.
Of course, Lucy never told her parents about Laxus' true personality, about how he behaves whenever the adults were not around. Simply because she knew her dad would have never believed her, thinking she was just looking for a way to stop the marriage between them.

So it must have been shocking for Jude to actually witness Laxus' drunken state, finding out that he went clubbing almost everyday and probably changed girls everyday, as well.
