Kitty

I'm exhausted.

I can feel the chronic tired creeping up on me as I stand in the doorway of the bathroom watching Alex measure out a space for a new toilet and a sink for our bathroom renovations. Two nights ago Vinnie and I decided to go ahead and pick out the stuff for the rest of the bathrooms, and we've been working hard on trying to get the first one finished. That eventually led to Corey and Alex coming back to help... this time though, they brought Kio, Bryce, and Josh.

I helped them for the first couple hours today, but now I'm to the point where all Im thinking about is taking a nap.

Bryce's voice has long faded out as he speaks to me, chatting about god knows what while I stand in the second upstairs hallway, holding up paint swatches to compare and figure out what colors we want to paint different sections of the house.

"I like that there." Bryce suddenly says over my shoulder so I glance back at him.

He points over me to the paint swatch in my hand that he's talking about so I look down to find that he's pointing at the light grey color I had picked for shits and giggles. At the same time, we both take a step back to look at the entire wall, and I purse my lips.

"As an accent wall... that's what those are called right?" Bryce asks me and I confirm with a nod. "Yea," he glances up and down the hallway, "It'll look good with all the green and browns that you steer toward."

I'll have to ask Vinnie what he thinks, but otherwise I think Bryce is right. The color is perfect.

"Thanks." I tell him and I start shifting through the different color swatches to find the light green I had picked out for one of the guest rooms. I hold it out to Bryce and ask, "What do you think about that in one of the guest rooms? I was thinking about painting a few orange and yellow paintings for it."

Bryce plucks it from my fingers and puts it to where he can clearly see it, his eyes squinting a tad. "Chase Green?"

"What?" I question, confused on what he's talking about.

He holds it out to me now to see, "The name is 'Chase green'."

Oh.

I slowly take the piece of paper back and look at it, and sure enough he's right. It is chase green.

I stare down at the color and without looking up at Bryce, "How is he?"

"Who, Chase?" Bryce leans against my wall, crossing his arms. "He's Chase," he answers while he looks up at the ceiling. "I think he's angry mostly."

"Angry?" I raise my brows at him.

Bryce quickly sticks his hands out, shaking his head at me, "Not at you. More like angry at the world and angry at-"

Several footsteps come pounding up the stairs at a fast rate, halting Bryce and I's conversation to look at the stairs. Vinnie is the first to come up, his eyes landing on me first and then sliding over to Bryce. Alex is the next to come up, then Corey, the three boys all looking at Bryce and i with suspicion so I quickly hold out the green card to Vinnie.

"For one of the guest rooms?" I ask and Vinnie scrunches up his nose.

"The entire room?" He asks while gently taking the color swatch from me, "That's like puke green."

I roll my eyes and take the swatch back from him, "It's an accent color."

"Duh." Bryce buds in, earning a side eye death look from Vinnie.

"So what?" Alex leans looks over my shoulder, "What's the other color then?"

"I want to paint the rest of the walls white." I answer as I turn around to face Alex, but I look over my shoulder at my boyfriend, "Not all of it 'puke green'."
