Kitty

Out of the group- the last person I expected to call me was Jack.

So I sat up out of my laying down position on the downstairs couch, Vinnie somewhere off in the house, and answered it. But I wasn't Jack on the other end.

It was Chase.

The second I was met with silence, I knew who it was- and I knew he was smart enough not to text me on his phone, and there was no way Bryce, Alex, or any of the other main boys would allow him to contact me through their devices.

I sat there for a moment, letting him have his moment until he quietly whispers, "Kitty I'm sorry."

"You should be." I state plainly while I lay back down again. "I understand where you were coming from but-"

"How can you be mad at me but not him?"

"I'm not mad." I respond as I turn onto my back to stare up at the ceiling. "But how you went about it..." I trail off and slowly close my eyes with a sigh. "I wish I didn't find out that way."

"Im sorry." Chase repeats again, "I know what I did wasn't cool... the look on your face and then..."

I shot a hole through my ceiling.

"I overheard Alex- no one is talking to me but, he said that you're back to secluding yourself, laying around and shit... is that true?"

I press my lips into a line, frowning at the fact that No one is talking to him. "What do you mean-"

"I knew you'd change the direction of this." Chase sighs heavily into the phone, sounding defeated. "It's fine- honestly it's well deserved."

"It's not right."

"Well, to everyone else, I stole the sun from above them again." He forces a laugh, but it falls short and we sit in a moment of silence.

"I'll talk to them." I assure him quietly, "They'll come around."

Chase doesn't respond right away, so I take the opportunity to also add, "Or else I'll shoot another hole in the ceiling."

He snorts and then chuckles a bit, "Oh please don't do that."

At least I made him laugh.

A shadow overcomes me, so I look up just as a hand touches the top of my head. Vinnie stands over me, a curious look on his face as he nods toward the phone so without breaking eye contact with him, I tell Chase, "Alrighty well, I've got to take Finch out, but Ill talk to them Chase."

Vinnie narrows his eyes at me, his hand immediately moving from my hair, his hurt hidden by his guard being thrown up.

"Okay Kitty- again I'm-"

"I know you're sorry." I move the phone from my ear and immediately hang up as I sit up.

Vinnie takes a step back, his arms crossing over his chest. "What the fuck did he want?"

"To apologize." I simply answer, and I reach my hand out to take his arm, but he moves another step back, out of my reach.

"And?"

I press my lips into a line. "That's it."

"Fuck his apology." Vinnie turns away from me swiftly, "Who the fuck-"

"He said that no one will talk to him." I stand up off the couch to follow Vinnie while he begins to storm away.

"Good, it's what he deserves."

I stay close behind him while we walk through the living room, my eyes falling down to his hand. I go to reach for it as I tell him, "No one deserves that."
