Draco's view
It's Friday, now and so far, we have finished one week of classes, both together and separate, we have done our first night of rounds, and we are about to hold a meeting for the organisation of the Ball for next weekend. We are sitting in Headmaster McGonagall's transfiguration classroom on a Friday night waiting for the students we have asked to help us work on the decorations, and what will be happening at the Ball. Hermione and I are the only ones here so far since we arrived before the time everyone else is supposed to be here. Hermione has created a list of things that she thinks will be needing done as well as another list for students that will be helping out. One by one the students from our year start arriving along with some of the prefects and their friends.
As the last of the students straggle in, Hermione stands up to face everyone. "Welcome everyone, as you know you have been asked here to help organise and decorate a ball which all students can attend and helps students to connect with others without worrying about their house. Draco and I are in charge of everything however, we would like your ideas and input into the decorations, and what will happen at the Ball. If you wish to help, please let me know now what you would like to do and help with. The Ball is to be held next Saturday, this gives everyone enough time to figure out their outfits as well as get and organise decorations for the Great Hall", Hermione beams with happiness into the room.
One by one students put their hands up saying their name and house as well as what they would like to help with. We have decided it will be a spring Ball as it is currently Spring, so there will be flowers, and bright colours everywhere. The house flags will be hung from the sealing but there will be new signs with houses mixed together to show unity within the houses, as the Ball is about connecting with one another. As Headmaster McGonagall said at the beginning of the year, we are one, not separate. The students have also decided there will be a band playing, and some waltzing to begin with. The 7th years will all Waltz in the middle of the Great Hall to begin the evening. Everyone much to Potter, and Weasley's dismay that Hermione and I would begin the Waltz in the middle of the room with the other 7th years circling us. We also agreed it would be easiest to do the Waltz that we did for the Yule Ball.
After everyone had finished discussing their ideas and putting their names done on the list, Hermione reminded everyone that this weekend we could go to Hogsmead to find outfits, and to make sure to be at the Great Hall next Saturday just after lunch time to help begin with decorating for the Ball. The students the begin to file out of the classroom leaving just myself, Hermione, and very angry Potter and Weasley. I get up from the desk at the front of the room saying I will leave Hermione to her conversation with Harry and Ron, and I will see her at our dorm soon. She nods nervously as she knows what they are about to say. I quickly grab my things and race out of the classroom trying not to make eye contact with Potter or Weasley. As I am out of the classroom, I hear Hermione lock the door before I head Ron yell angrily about the Waltz. Without looking back, I take the list to McGonagall about what has been discussed and decided by the students to get her approval on things before heading back to my dorm to wait for Hermione to arrive hopefully unharmed.
Hermione's view
I shut the door behind Draco as he leaves the room with the list for McGonagall, making sure to lock it so no one disturbs us before Ron shouts at the top of his lungs. "Why did you agree to begin the Waltz with Malfoy, why wouldn't you dance with Harry or I?" Ron screams at me walking closer from the desk he and Harry were sitting at for the meeting. "Ron we are Head boy and Head girl we should be the ones to start the Waltz, it seems appropriate as it is a Ball about houses coming together. Do you not remember what McGonagall said at the start of the year we are one, not separate," I say trying to stay strong. "Ron she is right okay how would it look if she was dancing with one of us. We are all in Gryffindor and it is a Ball about connecting the houses together. If you or I danced with her to begin the Ball, then it would look like she if favouring Gryffindor over the other houses. Plus, she is Head girl, how would McGonagall react to her not showing the other students that the Ball is about connecting the houses," Harry says trying to calm the situation. Ron huffs before storming out of the room, and Harry mouths sorry to me before racing after Ron before he does something stupid. I sigh before sitting down at the desk. I sit there for a few minutes trying to understand what just happened before collecting my things and heading to my dorm.
