Chapter 15: Four

If anyone asked Seo In Guk to enumerate what he likes about Park Bo Young, even if he said he likes her overall, he would give them four reasons. Yes, four. Just like the number of seasons.

One, Park Bo Young is like Spring. No matter the time of the day, her presence is refreshing. She has that childlike aura, that carefree feeling one has which reminds him that everyday is a new beginning. Even if he's now left with only a few of those.

Two, she is like Summer. She's the touch of the sun on one's skin. She's sometimes scorching -- especially when she wants to make a point -- but more often, she's the warmth that he needs on days he feels like giving up.

Three, she is like Fall. She's the calm in the chaos. The leaves in vibrant colors. A painting with the kind of finesse that's so rare, it's priceless. The season of inspiration. His, to be specific. 

Four, she is like Winter. She's the cold. His weakness. Yet, she's a celebration. A rain of white clouds you watch from a frosty window of your home. The first snow. The long wait that's so beautiful, it's worth it.

Four reasons although there's more. Park Bo Young, by all means, is someone very important to him. And acknowledging that as a fact, is sad and beautiful at the same time.

So, he chose. He decided between feeling happy and feeling melancholic. He chose her. And her happiness by pretending to be up to scratch, so as to not worry her, as he read the book he was holding. As per script.

Park Bo Young, if asked what she likes about Seo In Guk, even if it was obvious it's because of his straightforward character, she would give four reasons. Yes, four. Just like the cardinal directions.

One, he is North. The true north. He is like her inner sense. He keeps her on a straight track that's true for her. And her truth is, no matter how frightening the near future may be, she knows she's strong enough to face it.

Two, he is East. The point of horizon where the sun rises. He's the light in her darkest days. The birth of hope when she feels there is none.

Three, he is West. He is where the sun sets. The warm hues of the sky. An artistry. A kind of  sophistication, so precious to behold. Her muse.

Four, he is South. He is that part of the horizon where the cloud never comes, but from which we watch for it. He is that gravity which pulls her back to a safe place. Her home.

Four reasons although there's more. Seo In Guk, by all means, is someone very important to her. And acknowledging it as the truth, is sad and beautiful at the same time.

So she chose. She decided between feeling happy and feeling melancholic. She chose him. And his happiness by cleverly giving him jelly to eat while being filmed. Not following the script.

"You have only four days left, that it's beyond me how you never felt like there was a need for you to reach me." Myul Mang said as she sat on the couch nonchalantly like she usually does. She's now looking like Nam Ji Hyun. In Guk's leading lady in Shopping King Louis.

She even gave Bo Young a knowing smile and the latter wasn't so sure if she's going to be bitter about it or let it slide. So long as she isn't giving him any ridiculous ideas, Bo Young decided she's going to ignore the fact that she think it's silly that she's feeling jealous. But if you'd ask her why she feels that way, she's going to give you four reasons. Yes, four.

One, she got to work with him first. Assuming that they are still in contact, then most certainly, she knows more about him than she does.

Two, he uploaded more candid pictures of Nam Ji Hyun on instagram than pictures with her in it. Quality over quantity, yes. But candid ones had more quality to it, right?

Three, their on screen chemistry is apparent. She hasn't been smitten about anything as of late until she watched their series. She couldn't help but compare her chemistry with him to his and Nam Ji Hyun's.

Four, she's definitely jealous of their kiss. And probably all the other kissing scenes he's done that's not with her.

And those four petty reasons, irks her so. In fact, she's hoping he wouldn't notice. Or at least, Myul Mang would keep quiet about it.

For the life of her, she's in the presence of someone who can hear thoughts. It will be a miracle if said immortal would keep her mouth shut. She's becoming more nosy as death day nears.

"We decided to take things easy. Since we're going to die, we didn't want the thought of it to bother us anymore. A~nd, your presence alone is a trigger for anxiety." In Guk explained. He kind of felt relieved when Myul Mang showed as his former leading lady and not any of Park Bo Young's leading men. He really wouldn't want to feel the same feeling he felt when they were at the amusement park.

He never really mentioned it to anyone but he was uneasy when Myul Mang was in the form of Park Hyung Sik. While he knows he's the one she's dating, it's not exactly fun to have her former leading man around. He isn't necessarily the jealous type but he just couldn't help but feel ill at ease.

Only the divine knows, and most likely Myul Mang did too, how difficult it was to keep a straight face at that time. He had four reasons why he felt like there was a need to pretend he was okay then. Yes, four.

One, he is undeniably envious of the fact that Park Hyung Sik got to work with Bo Young before he did -- despite him having cameo appearances in her older projects -- and he didn't want her to see even a bit of insecurity from him.

Two, he didn't have magazine photoshoots with her that he can go back to (as if he still had time to look back on it when he's going to die soon) when shooting their series is over. No, he wasn't okay with not having it. Especially when there were a lot of those when Park Hyung Sik was her leading man.

Three, her on screen chemistry with Park Hyung Sik is apparent. They were such a hit that people asked for a second season. So no, he wasn't thrilled to see their chemistry in person.

Four, he's definitely jealous of their kiss. And probably, all the kissing scenes she's done that's not with him. However, he can't show her his jealousy can he? Since he obviously is the person she chose to date. He'd look pathetic. She'd be disappointed. And that's the last thing he wants her to feel towards him.

Those four reasons, while there and true, irks him so. In fact, he hopes she's not noticing it now. Or at least Myul Mang would keep quiet about it.

For the life of him, just reminiscing the time they were in the amusement park with her previous leading man, makes him bitter. It will be a miracle if the immortal with them now would keep her mouth shut. She's becoming more nosy as death day nears.

"Alright. I hear your thoughts." Myul Mang said as she laughed. "You're funny, you two."
