Chapter 2: Knocks on His Door

Opposite to his character from the series he's currently working on, In Guk is very much in need of sleep. He's been doing his best to be as un-human as possible because that was what work required. But now that he's home, there was no way he'd turn down his bed calling to him to lay down on it.

Filming is fun. He likes his scenes with his co-star Bo Young. She's easy to work with so he couldn't help being active on the set just to elicit a response from her. That however, required a lot of energy, and that energy is lost on him now.

He knows, as soon as he reaches his bed, he won't know what's going on around him anymore. That is, if he ever reaches his bed.

What's that? Is that the door?

In Guk squinted his eyes, if they weren't already, at the clock. It's already 2:30 a.m. Who in the world is knocking?

Park Bo Young?

He usually never really cared what he looks like at home but he isn't sure if it was right to welcome a guest wearing just a sleeveless a-line shirt and boxers. So despite his exhaustion, In Guk found himself bolting to his walk-in closet to get a coat to cover himself at least. He wasn't sure how quickly he managed to get back where his guest waited but he opened the door as soon as he did.

"Please come in," he said, gesturing for her to enter his home. She gave him a bright smile and walked past him without saying a word.

In Guk can only follow her with his gaze as she casually walked in his house like she owned it. She made for the couch and sat on it with a bounce. "Aren't you going to entertain your guest?" she asked in a slightly loud voice to reach where he is, still standing by the door.

"Uhm~ where are my manners?" In Guk said putting his hands in the air in a questioning gesture. He then closed the door behind him and went for the kitchen. "What would you want?"

"Nothing! I don't drink." He heard her say. "Alright! What would you like for snacks then?" He asked once more.

"Nothing! I don't eat." She responded. "Hahaha. You got me!" He said with a chuckle. How in the world does she have the energy to make him laugh at this hour?

Shaking his head, In Guk got water from the refrigerator and took one of the sealed strawberry packages he bought the day before. Thank God for small mercies! He just realized if he didn't buy them, he won't have anything to offer. He hasn't been at home that much due to work.

He stole her a glance as he put the strawberries in a bowl to wash them. As he did, he was heavily contemplating why she turned up in front of his door in wee hours. She didn't look like she had company either.

He doesn't really mind the gossips in case a rumor breaks out. If he knew the truth, he was okay with that. It's one of the consequences of his work.

Is she like that too?

After draining the water from the bowl, he transferred the strawberries in a dry one and made his way to her. He is still very much in thought about how she made herself comfortable in his house but that shouldn't be the first of his concerns, should it? He should first know why he's sitting across Bo Young who continued to smile at him without expressing her reason for visiting.

"Have some. I realized, I only have those in my fridge."

"You shouldn't have. I told you, I don't drink and I don't eat." She said as she crossed her legs on her seat.

"Let me guess. You don't sleep and you don't cry either." He said with a smile. He actually finds this exchange amusing.

"I'm surprised humans got that right about me."

"WHAT THE...!?"

One moment he was sitting across from her, the next he was standing, his hands in his hair in utter disbelief.

"DAWON!?"

His co-star just grinned at him. If he was amused earlier, now, he thinks he must be really tired he's having hallucinations. He even pinched his cheek for good measure and it hurt! He isn't having hallucinations then?

"Do you want a different idol then?" Dawon asked him. As he did, whoever he is, if he's even human, changed into another idol.

"Cool right?" He asked, not breaking eye contact with the still in shock actor. In Guk couldn't believe he's looking at an EXO member.

Sitting comfortably on his couch, Byun Baekhyun gestured for him to take his seat too. In Guk surprisingly found himself doing as he was instructed. What in the world is happening?

"You know, I was about to commend you for handling my knocking on your door better than Bo Young did, but I take that back. She handled it better." Baekhyun said. Or at least this shape-shifter who turned into Baekhyun did.

"Did you change into different people too?" In Guk found himself in a competitive mode. He's sure if Bo Young handled it well, she must not have seen this shape-shifter change into different people before her eyes.

"No. But I told her she's going to die in the next 100 days." Baekhyun said casually. And while it was really astonishing to find himself sitting in front of the idol, especially when said idol has enlisted in the military, there were more pressing concerns as of the moment.

"What?" In Guk tentatively asked. "And so are you." Baekhyun pointed at him with the hand that had a strawberry in it. He ate it after as he watched how In Guk would react.

It was funny to watch how In Guk was tilting his head left and right seemingly contemplating especially since he can actually hear his thoughts. He was right. The actor is taking it better than the actress did. Or at least, In Guk was accepting the absurdity better.

Myul Mang, who now is in the physical form of Baekhyun, can loudly hear his thoughts as it moved back and forth in his head. In Guk asked himself if he was going to believe the stranger sitting on his couch who told him of his and Bo Young's deaths and his mind responded if said stranger can shape-shift then it should be a no-brainer right? Myul Mang found himself nodding in agreement to the discussion In Guk had in his head.

"How?" In Guk finally asked.

"It's actually going to be a horrible scene. People will be left traumatized once the both of you are gone. Some of them would probably quit their job too." Baekhyun said eating another strawberry.

"I thought you don't eat?" In Guk asked again. "That's the least of your concerns isn't it?" Baekhyun threw a question in response. "Right, right." In Guk nodded in realization. It really was the least of his concerns.

"But how?"

Baekhyun shrugged and then said, "Have you read the scene where Bo Young will dare to jump from the balcony again because she wants your character to appear before her?"

In Guk had to recall what he read in the script and it sure is in it. There was no way anyone who isn't part of the production would know about that. Whoever this is sitting in front of him must be some deity of sorts.

"She slips for real when the cable breaks, and you will be there watching her film the scene. I don't know. I'm not really sure how's your death going to happen but you will both fall to your deaths."
