I ended up mostly giving Michiyo a cold shoulder, and avoiding her mostly today since I get too flustered.
I feel bad for ignoring her mostly today but it looks like she doesn't mind at all.
We are now walking back home alone since Mikey had something to deal with his gang and Emma went along with him to see Draken. As for Senju, she went to Wakasa-san again for some training.
The awkward silence made me so uncomfortable. Even though I liked being silent, the situation at hand seems different.
"Haru" Michiyo suddenly spoke, breaking the unbearable silence between us.
"Y-yes?" I said, stuttering and almost biting my tongue after being suddenly called.
She took a while to respond but I waited in silence.
"I'm sorry" She said and we both stopped in our tracks.
"Eh? For what?" I asked, confused by her sudden apology. As far as I know, she didn't do anything that's worth apologizing for and in reality, it should've been me who's saying sorry.
"For what I said. I guess the term I used was offensive to you. I was inconsiderate and I'm sorry." She said and slightly bowed while I looked at her confused and slightly flustered.
"W-wait, Michi. What are you exactly saying sorry for? I can't remember anything that you said to me being offensive for you to apologize." I said.
"Weren't you offended that I called our hangout at the festival a date? I told you that when we called but you just went silent so I thought that maybe I said something wrong." She said, a hint of guilt seen on her face.
Eh?
"That's why I'm saying sorry, from now on I'll refrain from calling our endeavors a "date". I'm really sorry." She said and bowed again while I was getting even more flustered.
"Wait wait wait, Michi listen." I said and held her shoulder and prevent her from bowing and apologizing even more.
She looked at me with her usual neutral expression.
"You got it wrong. I wasn't offended or mad at you at all." I said as I looked at the side.
"Then why do you avoid looking me in the eye?" She asked.
It's because we're too close to each other. I grabbed her shoulder without thinking.
"*Ahem* I should be the one saying sorry for avoiding you all day without reason. I also don't mind you calling our hangouts "dates". I'm sorry, Michi, I was just too surprised, that's all." I said, clapping my hands together and slightly bowing to apologize, waiting for her to respond.
"That was all?" She asked in her monotone voice.
"Yes, that's why I'm so sorry for being shallow." I apologized again.
