I knocked at the teachers' office before entering and approached our adviser who was looking tired.

"Sensei, about that competition you told me..." I started and she immediately came alive and faced me with a determined look.

She has been trying to convince me in joining since the school didn't have any representatives and always lost. Also, it was partly a tv show that will be broadcasted in the entire country.

"Are you finally going to agree, Michiyo-chan?" She asked with hopeful eyes as he held my hands.

"Well, before that. I'd like to ask whether there would be any prices for winning it?" I asked and she enthusiastically explained everything.

The cash prize was plenty enough to feed a family for a year. So even though I didn't want to stand out, if I want to change the story, it was necessary.

I informed her that I agreed to join and she thanked me over and over with tears of joy. She even muttered that she would've lost her job if no one participated.

With me joining the competition, I feel sorry for the kids that would have their confidence crushed.

I'm sorry but this is for our survival.

"Grandpa, can you please sign here." I asked while I hold my consent form.

"What's that?" He asked as he took his eyeglasses.

"I'm joining a competition." I replied and he only read the contents before signing it without question.

Going back to our room, I saw Emma doing her own homework. She'd always been shy to ask for my help so I'll always offer to.

"Nee-chan, I thought you have a contest to join. Aren't you going to study?" She asked after we finished her homework.

"I'm already done studying." I replied and laid down. Emma followed and lay beside me after closing the lights. Glowing stickers of stars were seen on the ceiling.

She slowly snuggled closer as we both watched the artificial stars. My relationship with Emma had been great throughout the years and she got used to me looking so stoic every time.

Well, I'd say my face is quite useful since people rarely approach me at school. I'm like that silent emo kid at the back of the class, always looking outside the window or scribbling on the notebook.

My seatmates are also Haru and my twin. I don't get why they even put me at the back of the class when I'm so small.

"Michiyo-chan, are you ready?" My teacher asked as we were backstage where we'll be having the competition.

"Yes" I replied.
