It was currently Monday afternoon and Victoria was seated behind the counter at the DX reading the newest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Nothing new was happening in the music industry besides a few new album releases, electric guitars that were the current hype and even some new looks of familiar stars.

Victoria started working the Friday before and got the weekend off. For now, her days were Monday, Wednesday and Friday from ten in the morning to five in the evening.

The radio was playing quietly in the background, a brief intermission in the regular music program for speaking about the release of Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits album. If Victoria was being honest, she couldn't care less about what the radio host had to say about Frank Sinatra's album, she just wanted to hear the regular rock music that usually played on the station.

Victoria heard the bell chime above the door signalling someone walking in. Victoria was excited since it wasn't too busy today. She looked up from the magazine to see a young-looking man walk into the store. He was wearing jeans, a New York Yankees shirt and a leather jacket despite the hot weather. He seemed to also be wearing some sort of necklace with a pendant around his neck.

He looked more or less like Victoria's age and his expression was serious, however, it changed to a smirk when he saw Victoria. The boy looked her up and down before letting out a low whistle. "Soda didn't say nothing about a pretty lady working the register." He said while winking at her. He had a New York accent and he looked like the typical bad boy.

Ignoring him, Victoria greeted him politely, "Welcome to the DX, how may I help you?"

"Nothing for now, sweets."

By now, the boy was seated on one of the stools at the counter. He grabbed the magazine that Victoria was previously flipping through and looked at the cover. "Rolling Stone put out a new issue, huh?"

"Yeah, I was just looking at it, actually," Victoria said slightly annoyed.

The boy dismissed what she had to say with a wave of his palm as he continued flipping through the magazine.

"No way!" The boy shouted a few minutes later. Victoria looked up from another copy of the same magazine to hear what the boy had to say. "Cream disbanded?!"

"What? You're serious?!" Victoria said as she looked over to where he was pointing. He was a few pages ahead of her.

"That sucks, man. They were a pretty good band." The boy said with a huff. He rested his chin on his hand as he continued to read the rest of the storey.

"Didn't they just put out a new album too?" Victoria asked. The boy nodded his head as he flipped the page and became engrossed in whatever was on the next side of the paper.

Suddenly feeling bored, he flipped the book shut and put it back on the magazine stand. He started digging around his pockets for something, eventually pulling out a pack of cigarettes, pulling one out of the pack before offering one to Victoria. She shook her head "no".

"Your loss." He mumbled. He put the pack away and dug around in his pockets a little more before sighing. "You gotta light?" He asked Victoria.

"No. But you can buy one!" She said with a smile.

"That's okay." He said while grabbing one off the stand which was placed on the counter. "Soda usually lets me just take one."

"Soda said not to give anything to someone for free unless I know them. I don't know you. So if you want the lighter, that'll be thirty cents."

The boy looked at her as if he was trying to figure out if she was serious or not. "I'm Dallas," He said sticking his hand out. Victoria hesitantly shook it, "Victoria." She said.
