tw: torture, dislocating bones, blood
Lorelei could practically taste it.
Freedom.
After being cooped up for so long, it took everything in her not to run straight at the door. Instead, she walked slowly, feigning calmness and the intent to return.
She could not believe that this day had come. All her hard work had paid off and now, all she needed to do was open that door, leave, and never come back. Such an easy task had been taken away from her but not anymore.
When Lorelei reached the door, she grinned and twisted the handle. The door shuffled open with a satisfying creak and just as Lorelei was about to step out, someone appeared from behind the door, effectively blocking the way. She looked up and was met with the menacing glare of a security guard. His eyebrows were drawn together and his lips were set into a thin frown.
Lorelei felt her heart drop. She had been found out. She should have known that escaping would never be that easy. A nervous smile took over her features, "Hey," She said, nervously shuffling back. "I was just going out to get some fresh air, that's all. Well, that air was nice. I'm gonna go now."
"Not so fast." She froze as a hand gripped her shoulder, effectively stopping her in place. Lorelei knew that voice and she wanted to scream at the universe for ruining her life like this. She looked up at Nate Perez and the stupid grin he was giving her. "Why don't you follow me?" His hand left her shoulder and she almost let out a sigh of relief.
His words were not a question but Lorelei shook her head, her body frozen in place. Suddenly, she felt a hot breath on the side of her neck. "He said to follow him." It was the menacing security guard that had foiled her plans.
Despite her brain's rebellion, it seemed her legs knew what to do. She trailed after the man as she let her thoughts consume her. What was she going to do to her? Would this be the end of her? She would never see her friends again — for real this time. She should have never tried to escape.
He led her to a part of the building she had never been to. There, he stopped in front of a steel door and opened it, using a passcode. Lorelei tried to see what the numbers were in case she needed to escape this room but he blocked her. She almost screamed in anger and annoyance. Why did this kind of thing only happen to her?
Lorelei followed him into the room. As she did so, she took notice of how bland and prison-like the room looked. The walls were a dull gray and there was a steel door for God's sake. It was also quite small and in a corner was a mattress, thrown haphazardly on the floor. Other than that, the room was blank.
She froze. Would she be sleeping in here? She hoped not.
Surely this would jot be the punishment for trying to escape right?
Nate turned to her, his eyes boring straight into hers. "And this is where you'll be staying until I decide you've learned your lesson." The words seemed to be coming out slowly. In fact, it seemed like time had slowed down. Her brain could barely process the situation and she kept thinking that there was no way this was real.
