I hummed as I walked through the snow, smiling softly when snowflakes would land on me. I was on my way to Louis' apartment after learning that he lived just a few blocks away from Harry and me. He had invited me to bake with him and Zayn though I was pretty sure they just wanted to gossip now that Harry and I were together.
I entered the building, smiling at the carolers who were singing Christmas songs outside and brushed the snow off my hair. My phone beeped and I checked to see that I had a notification from Harry telling me to stay safe and one from Louis telling me to hurry the fuck up. I snorted as I entered the elevator and pressed the button that would take me to Louis' floor. Once I arrived, I pressed the doorbell, patiently waiting for an answer.
The door opened and I was met with Louis's smiling face, "Took you long enough," He complained.
"Shut up," I narrowed my eyes at him as I entered the apartment.
I saw Zayn and Mari sitting on the couch, talking and probably waiting for me. I wasn't that late, was I?
"Hey, guys." I waved at them.
"Ugh finally." Zayn rolled his eyes while Mari snicked.
"Hello to you too," I said.
"Hii, I missed you," Mari said, coming over to give me a hug.
"I missed you too," I said, reciprocating the hug, "So, what are we baking?"
Louis and Zayn shared a look, a grin blossoming on both of their faces. "We're making brownies!" Louis said.
"Weed brownies!" Zayn added.
"Wait for real?" I asked and they both nodded. "That's so cool! Can we start now?"
Louis nodded, "So, I already made the cannabutter yesterday because I was too excited but we won't talk about that. Now, all we need to do is make the brownie and incorporate in the butter."
"Sounds easy," Mari said. "Wait.. can we get high from baking weed?"
"Nah, there are no fumes coming from the brownies as it bakes," Louis explained.
We all gathered in the kitchen where Louis explained that he already had all the ingredients ready and we would just have to follow his instructions on how to prepare the brownies. We nodded in understanding and after the pan was buttered, dusted with cocoa and the oven was set to 350° we were given our respective works.
Mari was to microwave the ½ cup of dark chocolate and cannabutter in ten-second intervals and then add 1 ¼ cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of molasses, and a ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt. Then I would add two eggs to the mixture, mixing well after each for about 5 minutes. While I was doing that, Zayn would sift a ¾ cup of all-purpose flour and ¼ cup of cocoa powder and then combine them with what I was mixing just until the flour disappeared. Then, Louis would pour the batter into the pan and bake for about 25 minutes and when it was cooled down it would be cut into about 16 pieces and it was done.
