FIERY RED HAIR

stranger things;
season 2    ep 1

ADRIAN IMPATIENTLY SPUN HIS pencil around his bandaged fingers, eyes darting between the clock at the front of the room and the teacher that currently teaching them about some random science-y shit that he truly didn't care about. Something about how the brain had a hundred billion cells?

It was painfully boring. His leg moved up and down as he slouched in his seat, eyelids threatening to close. Maybe he shouldn't have taken those sleeping pills.

Before he could even think about taking a quick little snooze, the door to the classroom was slammed open which caused him to open his eyes and focus. He squinted when he looked over, rubbing one of his eyes.

In the doorway stood the principal, arms crossed over his chest. A few feet away from him stood a girl with fiery red hair and gorgeous blue eyes that reminded him of an ocean. He furrowed his eyebrows and sat up straighter, watching as she avoided any contact with anyone. "Ah, this must be our new student." Mr. Clarke said a little to enthusiastically for it being 8 in the morning. At that, she tried to go and sit in the empty seat beside of Adrian, but Mr. Clarke stopped her.

"All right. Hold up. You don't get away that easy." She stopped walking and rolled her eyes before turning back around. "Come on up. Don't be shy." She moved to the side, impatiently standing beside his desk, feeling very uncomfortable by the stares on her. Mr. Clarke scanned the students before his eyes landed on a curly-haired boy in the front row. "Dustin, drum roll."

Dustin closed his textbook, keeping the page marked with a small piece of paper before he started to tap his textbook, imitating drums. "Class, please welcome, all the way from sunny California, the latest passenger to join us on our curiosity voyage, Maxine." Mr. Clarke finished off with jazz hands, and Dustin stopped hitting the front of his textbook.

Maxine frowned and shook her head, quickly looking over at the teacher. It's Max." She corrected the man beside her. Mr. Clarke furrowed his eyebrows and turned his head, confused. "Sorry?" He questioned, an awkward smile plastered on his face.

"Nobody calls me Maxine. It's Max." She corrected once more, the irritation in her would've made Adrian laugh in any other situation, but he didn't want any attention on him. Mr. Clarke only nodded his head and waved at her like he was a sailor. "Well, all aboard, Max."

Annoyed for having to wait so long, she rolled her eyes once more before finally making her way over to the only empty seat in the classroom. She sat down, immediately slouching and crossing her arms over her chest.

Adrian knew right at that moment that he wanted to get to know her, but for now, he can just pretend to understand what was happening in class. He tore his gaze away from her, freeing her of any extra discomfort, and looked ahead, fingers picking at the wood around the led of his pencil.

"Back to what I was saying. . ." Nope. He zoned out immediately, eyes staring blankly ahead. He didn't even notice that Mr. Clarke had called for him until he heard laughter from the students surrounding him.

"Adrian Villan. Hello?" He closed his eyes and shook away his daze, straightening his back. He looked up at Mr. Clarke with fake intellect, as if acting like he had been listening the entire time. "May you repeat what I just said?" Adrian mentally cursed but covered that up with a smile and a nod.
