THE NEXT MORNING, ADRIAN woke up extra early so that he didn't risk being late for the one day that mattered in his opinion. Dustin was finally coming home from summer camp, so the party decided to welcome him home with a surprise. What could go wrong?

The brunette yawned as he pulled an oversized shirt over his head, his hair being pushed down, making him look like a little boy for a moment. He ran a hand through his hair to fix it, rolling the bottoms of his jeans up so that they didn't drag on the ground. He was tired but excited at the same time. He wasn't exactly sure what the plan was, but he knew that he was going to be able to see Dustin and that was enough for him.

He rushed down the stairs while yanking his shoes on his feet. "Where do you think you're goin'?" Adrian stopped walking and sighed, already knowing that he was going to be asked some bullshit questions. "Out." He said nothing more and made a beeline for the front door, shutting it just before his father had been able to reach him. A loud bang echoed through his ears and he quickly ran to his bike, taking off just as the door was yanked open again. "I swear to god, I'm going to make your life a livin' hell, son!"

"I'll hold you to that!" Adrian shouted back. He knows that he's gonna regret saying that later but he cannot control his mouth. He rode down his street and turned onto yet another one, skidding to a stop in front of quite a large house. "Good morning, Adrian. Here for Mike?" Mrs. Wheeler asked him with a kind smile on her face. "Yes, ma'am." The woman was dressed up. Her hair was curled and her makeup was done. "He should be out in just a moment. What have you been up to lately?"

"Well, aside from hanging out with Mike nothing really." He admitted. Karen nodded and hummed, pulling her keys out of her picket. "Well, you're more than welcome to come over whenever you like. You're good company." Adrian smiled at the kindness of the woman. When they had first met she was a bit skeptical because of all the rumors she had heard about the boy, but the more he came over the more she grew to love him. He was nothing like the rumors had painted him to be. He was a bit cold-hearted when it came to a few things, but he seemed to really care for Mike. And Holly. She absolutely adored how sweet he was with the young girl. He had even played dolls with her once. Knowing that he was sweet to his kids and protected them was enough for her to consider him good company. The only person he didn't get along with was Ted, but it was completely justified considering Ted did most of the jabbing and Adrian just snapped back.

"I'm gonna get going, have fun at Dustin's," Karen told him, getting into her car. Adrian gave her a nod, waving as she started to pull out of the driveway. "Hey." Adrian turned and smiled when he saw Mike walking out of his garage, bike in hand. "Hey," Adrian replied, already putting one of his feet on the pedal. He grabbed ahold of the handles, already getting ready to kick off and ride down the road. "He is going to be there any minute. We gotta hurry if we wanna make it there in time." Adrian told Mike, who frowned. "Do we?" Adrian scoffed at how childish he was, not being able to contain the smile on his face. "We can hang out later. I promise." Mike let out a breath as he nodded sadly. "Okay..."

"Now come on! I'll race you!" Adrian said in an attempt to cheer him up. It seemed to work because Mike immediately smiled and the two took off, both of them trying to reach Dustin's driveway first. There wasn't anything in it for either of them, it was just fun to see how fast the other could go. It usually ended up with Adrian winning though, as he was a bit more athletic than Mike. Just like almost always, Adrian had pulled into his driveway first and turned to Mike, standing up straight in victory. "Ha! You lost." Adrian smirked proudly as Mike laughed, swinging his leg over his bike.
