"THE CASE OF PHINEAS Gage is one of the great medical curiosities of all time." Adrian was resting his hand on his palm as he listened to the man in the front of the class. "Phineas was a railroad worker in 1848 who had a nightmarish accident." The notebook that was sitting in front of him was decked out with doodles as he tried to pay attention in class. "A large iron rod was driven completely through his head." This probably shouldn't have caught Adrian's attention as much as it did. The boy closed his notebook, placing his full attention on the teacher. "Phineas miraculously survived. He seemed fine. And physically, yes, he was."

"But his injury resulted in a complete change to his personality." Adrian leaned closer, his converse dragging along the tiled floor of the classroom, probably leaving a very faint marking. "So much so that friends that knew him started referring to him as 'No longer Gage.'" Adrian's gaze moved down to Will, who was turning around to face Max. He furrowed his eyebrows and turned to look at the redhead that was sitting next to him just as she turned away quickly, pretending that she hadn't just been looking at Will. "At the time, this was known as the American Crowbar Case. Although it wasn't a-." The man was cut off abruptly by the door slamming open.

Adrian looked over to see Dustin gripping onto his backpack as he heaved for air. "I am so sorry, Mr. Clarke. Really, I'm so sorry. Please continue with the class. Don't mind me." He shuffled over to his desk and sat down, shoulders still moving up and down as he tried to regulate his breathing. Adrian stifled a laugh, covering his mouth in hopes that no one had heard him. "Although it wasn't a crowbar, it was a rod, as I said."

Adrian furrowed his eyebrows as the four boys in the front huddled together, very hushed whispers leaving their mouths. Dustin turned around and looked at Max before mouthing something. "Dustin!" Dustin quickly turned to face the front of the class, looking at Mr. Clarke with a waiting gaze. "Yes, my lord?" Dustin spoke quickly and Adrian covered his laugh with a cough. He had no idea where the nickname for the teacher had come from. "Would you care to join the class now?" Mr. Clarke asked the boy.

"Please, yes." Dustin reached down and dug through his backpack, eventually pulling out his textbook. "The case of Phineas Gage." Mr. Clarke told him, arms crossed over his chest as he watched the boy frantically turn the pages of his textbook. "Phineas Gage," Dustin repeated. "Page 104."

"104. 104." He turned to that exact page and looked up at Mr. Clarke, nodding his head. Mr. Clarke uncrossed his arms and "Focus." Mr. Clarke encouraged the curly-haired boy. "Focusing. Focusing." Dustin turned back around when Mr. Clarke started to teach again, mouthing something again. "AV Club." Adrian knew that he was only talking to Max so he didn't think much of it.

"-And he began to curse, using terrible words that I don't repeat here." Mr. Clarke continued with his lesson.

"Adrian!" Adrian turned just as Mike ran up to him, his curls falling around his head when he abruptly stopped. "Could you come to the AV room with me? Dustin said something about finding something." He furrowed his eyebrows but slowly nodded, closing his locker. "Yeah. I guess." Mike nodded his head in the direction that he was headed and Adrian started to follow after him, a hand wrapped around a strap of his backpack.

The two of them pushed their way through the crowded halls of Hawkins Middle, soon finding themselves in front of the AV Room door. Mike grabbed ahold of the doorknob and turned it, pushing it open. The others, who were already in the room, turned to look at them. Dustin was holding something that seemed very similar to a ghost trap from ghostbusters. And it was. Adrian raised an eyebrow at that and took his place in between Mike and Will as Dustin slammed his ghost trap down and opened it, letting the five other teenagers take a look at what was in it.
