Freakshow

Chapter 7

Autumn, Jamie, and Sally drug me out to the middle of the court yard. "What are you doing?!" Sally whispered harshly, I looked at her, confused, "I was having frozen yogurt with Beau." They all shook their heads, "We need to talk," Jamie demanded and lead me to a room at the end of the hall where the dorms were, it had all of the girls names painted on it and mine in choppy print on a piece of white printer paper hastily taped to the door. Across the hall was another door that had all the boys' names painted on it. Autumn rapped on the door three times and counted to three, then knocked twice. A girl who I remembered as Britney opened it, her gray eyes peered through the crack she had opened.

Then she opened the door wider, "come in," she said and we all stepped in, Sally quickly closed the door behind her. I looked around the room, all of the girls were here, sitting around the room on colorful couches and bean bags. The walls were painted shades of blue and purple and the ceiling was a mosaic of colors. There was a big fridge in the corner along with a microwave and sink. Laura got up and walked over to Sally, "What happened?" she asked. "We found her at Tutti Frutti with Beau," Sally told Laura. She started to say something but I butted in, "Um, I'm right here. What's going on?" I asked. Laura scowled at me, "take a seat," she said, motioning to a lime green bean bag. I sat down in it and from the back Madison spoke up, "hey Rose, wanna soda? We got Coke, Crush, Sprite, Mountain Dew," I thought for a second, "I'll take a Coke," I said, "you got it," she replied and tossed me a can.

Laura cleared her throat, "There are a few things you need to know about this place, including the boys." I got a sickening feeling that Beau was actually Laura's boyfriend. "I didn't mean to, he was flirting with me so I he was single and-" Laura burst out laughing, "do you think Beau is my boyfriend!?" the rest of the room broke out in laughter. I stared at her dumbfounded, "no, no, no," she said, "we want to warn you about him." I was confused, "warn me about him? Why?" I looked around the room, "well you see," Jamie said, "he's kind of a player." Elizabeth nodded beside her, "he's flirted with all of us at one point, right when we got here." I thought about it, he had been so sweet and nice. I looked at Laura, then at Jamie and Elizabeth, "I'm going to change him," I told them with determination in my voice. Laura chuckled a little, "whatever you say."

I got up and stalked out of the room and walked back to my dorm and slammed the door behind me. What is with this place, I thought to myself as I sat down on my bed. A few moment's later there came a knock on the door, it was Britney. "Can I come in?" she asked, I sighed and opened the door wider. "Thank you," she said, "I just wanted to come and see your progress on your telekinesis." I walked over and sat on my bed and patted the comforter next me. She came and sat, "I'm sure you've learned all the basics already, so show me what you've got," I stared at the alarm clock on my nightstand, it floated a few feet in the air and then I set it back down. Britney quietly applauded, "good job!" she said, "you're one of us now. Welcome to the freakshow."
