chapter VIII.

it took no time for seonghwa to recover from their drinking incident, thanks to yeosang's blood that is. it had been a few days and the pair hadn't done anything but lounged around the human's apartment.

"are you okay, seonghwa? you've been sitting out here for ages." yeosang questioned as he went to stand on the balcony along side seonghwa.

"it's nothing, don't worry." he sighed. "it's just, remember when i talked about going back home? i think i should go sooner then later."

"okay, what's the problem?" yeosang confusedly asked.

"i mean right now." the black haired male confessed. yeosang was a little taken aback by this, he knew seonghwa was missing his town, but he didn't expect the vampire would be taking the trip this soon.

"are you listening to me, yeosang?"

"huh? oh yeah. no, yeah you should definitely go tonight!" the human sputtered a bit. he totally wasn't saying that he'd miss seonghwa while he was gone, but he had gotten used to the company around his house.

the older watched yeosang furrow his brows, he bit his lip, "i will only be away for a few hours tonight."

"yeah, it's fine seonghwa. you don't have to explain yourself." he smiled.

the vampire sighed. "well, actually... i was wondering if you would like to accompany me? it's okay if you do not, i know it's a lot and—"

"i'll go."

seonghwa hung his head, "as expected— wait what?"

curiosity never hurt, right? what was the worst that could happen to yeosang up there? the boy had already been dying to know more about seonghwa's hometown. the way the vampire talked about it gave off the vibe that he had a complicated relationship with it.

"i'll go, i'm interested in learning more about your past life." yeosang restated.

the vampire smiled at the boy, pulling him by the waist into a slight side hug. "thank you, dear."

seonghwa would've never admitted this out loud, but he was actually quite fearful of returning to the mountain. the thought of his family finding him or his friends being disappointed and scolding him haunted his mind. now that yeosang going beside him, it put his mind to ease just a tad bit more.

seonghwa motioned for the younger to climb on his back, "hop on." he said.

yeosang complied, tightly wrapping his arms around the vampire's neck, and his legs around his torso.

seonghwa sighed, "do not let go." and with that he jumped off the balcony.

yeosang let out a yelp, he was definitely not expecting that. his nerves soon calmed when he realized that the vampire had began flying upwards.

now, he wasn't really sure how seonghwa was flying without wings, but that was the least of his concerns at that moment.

when their flight stabilized, he glanced down at the city. the sight was breathtaking. the buildings helped the starts illuminate the almost pitch-black night sky. he watched as the lights passed under the dark and dense clouds.

"...it's beautiful up here." the human said as he continued to stare at the city beneath them. the vampire chuckled.

"i know."

the pair arrived on top of the mountain in no time.

seonghwa sighed in relief as he let yeosang down from his back. this wasn't his first time flying with someone but he was still nervous about dropping the other.

"woah..." the silver haired boy breathed out, looking around the small town. everything was dark and had a spooky aura surrounding it. it was like looking at the set of a halloween movie.

"what do think?" the older questioned as he watched yeosang's facial expressions change a mile a minute.

"it's fucking creepy up here." yeosang responded as he watched a bat fly over his head.

the vampire smirked, "it only gets better on the inside," he said while pulling the boy through the fog.

yeosang was very impressed. seonghwa had taken him to a couple of local shops and places he liked to hang around with his friends when he was younger. it seemed like supernatural creatures had a way more interesting life than humans.

yeosang laughed as he walked alongside seonghwa, the vampire was telling him a funny story from his childhood. just before then, the black haired male had taken him to grab a snack.

he had a doughnut. the outside was black and the inside was filled with some sort of purple jelly. he decided not to worry about the appearance too much because the flavor was good.

seonghwa wiped the small tears coming from his eyes, "yeah, and i simply replied with-"

"seonghwa?!"
