chapter XI.
for the first time in many, many years, seonghwa could say that he was feeling nervous. you could even describe it as feeling queasy. if you would've asked seonghwa if he'd ever fall for a human just six months ago, he'd respond with 'no.' in a heartbeat.
he wasn't exactly sure why he had a sudden change in heart. maybe it was the fact that yeosang had the most beautifully sculpted face he'd laid his eyes on. or maybe it was the fact that yeosang's soul was just as beautiful as his outside.
the human had night classes, so that was perfect for seonghwa. he had all the time of the day to plan the most amazing date for the two of them. well, it wasn't really a date considering seonghwa was practically on lockdown, but it would do.
the clock struck 8:37, and seonghwa heard the familiar sound of keys clanking together outside of the apartment. when he stood up, he was met with the sight of an exhausted looking yeosang shutting the door.
"i'm tired," the younger huffed as he threw his coat on the hanger and made his way over to seonghwa.
"long class today?"
yeosang hummed in response. "the lecture was actually deadly. i'm going to sleep."
"wait! you surely don't want to go to sleep on an empty stomach, no?" seonghwa latched onto the boy's arm before he could head for his bedroom.
the boy groaned, "i guess i could sit down for a few minutes."
the vampire instantly smiled, "thank you."
he dragged yeosang into the kitchen where the food sat. yeosang was too caught up in his own world before to notice the candles and roses sitting on the table. he gasped lightly.
"what's the special occasion? are you feeling extra apologetic today?" the silver haired boy commented sarcastically as he sat down and pulled his plate closer.
"no." seonghwa blushed.
yeosang just nodded towards him, with a puzzled look plastered on his face. seonghwa had made steak and steamed vegetables, with a side of wine.
not wanting to waste any time, he dug into the food in front of him.
"oh my god, this is amazing seonghwa."
"i'm glad i've satisfied you," the vampire grinned. he enjoyed watching yeosang's face light up when he ate a good meal.
the two ate in silence. yeosang was too busy admiring seonghwa's cooking skills while the latter was too busy starring at him.
"what— do i have something on my face?" yeosang instantly snapped the vampire out of his daydreaming.
"oh— of course not. you just.. look stunning, dear."
the other laughed. "i've been in class all day, i am nearly about to pass out, and you're still complimenting me?"
"you look flawless as always."
"okay— is it just me or are you flirting way more today?"
seonghwa sighed, was he coming off too strong? "it seems that way?"
yeosang just hummed as he continued to stuff food into his mouth. after he finished eating he yawned. he began to pick up his plate and move it to the sink when the vampire called for him again.
"wait!— i mean, hold on for just a moment."
the human sat down with a puzzled look on his face.
seonghwa chuckled, "i don't think i've ever been this shaken up by a person in my entire life."
now yeosang was more confused than ever. "what do you mean?"
the black haired male slid his chair closer to the other's and looked down. here goes nothing, he thought.
"yeosang. i hope this doesn't frighten you away from me." he said as he looked up into the younger's eyes, yeosang motioned for him to continue.
"since the first time i laid my eyes on you, i was immediately attracted to you. there's something just so captivating about your aura... personality and beauty wise. this is the first time in decades that i've felt this strongly about another person. yet, it does not surprise me because it's you. i mean... if i could be by your side for eternity, i wouldn't hesitate to choose that option."
yeosang's expression was a mix of emtions. flattery, shock, love, and possibly fear all flashed over his face.
"i know this is quite a lot for you to take it, it was for me as well. so if you need time to yourself, i surely would understand."
yeosang breathed in. it definitely was a lot to take in. after hearing seonghwa voice his feelings, it'd made him realize his true feelings for him as well.
"i'm just... just scared. what about your safety— what about your family—"
seonghwa immediately cut off his rambling by placing his right hand on his cheek and caressing it.
"i've thought about all of this as well. unfortunately there's no way i know of that could prevent these issues. but i do know.. that as long as i have you by my side nothing else matters."
now yeosang was blushing, like blushing really hard. having a handsome vampire in love with him was definitely never something he had in envisioned. this whole moment felt completely surreal to him.
he pressed his lips into a thin line, "i'm sorry, but could you just give me a little time to think? or maybe we could try it out first..."
"no worries, darling. i am not going anywhere."
yeosang smiled as seonghwa placed a swift peck on his cheek.
"i'm sorry for keeping you up so late, let's get you to bed, hm?" seonghwa suggested as he pulled the boy up from the chair and led him to the bedroom.
how could yeosang possibly sleep after all of this?
