During Elaina's 7th and 8th grade years of school she began to start making friends that would stick by her side no matter what. These years were a blur considering how hard life and puberty hit Elaina. It was a constant battle with severe acne on her face, no matter what facial products she used nothing would work. Elaina became so invested in getting lighter that she began to pour bleach in her bath water, in order to become a lighter complexion. I'm not sure why Elaina did some of the things that she did but I later began to understand how she felt. 13 year old Elaina, wanted to be able to have a normal life. She never anticipated that these years in middle school would mold her to be the person that she is today.  Being able to not care about what other people think is a super-power that Elaina utilizes in her adult life, she just doesn't know it yet.  With Elaina having a nice bond with Mr. Garcia, she would talk to him about everything, from growing up in a semi-toxic household, and getting bullied. He was always that shoulder for her to cry on. Deep down inside Elaina wanted Mr. Garcia but she knew that it was wrong but she still had thoughts of what it would be like to have somebody like that in her life to take care of her and protect her from harms way. Mr. Garcia was a couragous person who didn't care what anybody else thought, as long as he was happy. This demeanor caused Elaina to be very attracted to him, even though he was her teacher. There have been times where students and teachers fool around, however not in middle school. Elaina never cared about Mr. Garcia's age because she liked him for being himself. Whenever the band would take trips , Elaina would always sit beside Mr. Garcia just to vent and talk about whatever was on her mind. This gave her a sense of comfort, that no matter what she told him, he would always be there to support and encourage her to keep going. 

Fast forward a year, its the end of 8th grade year and the band is taking a trip to Atlanta. Elaina was very excited able being able to experience going out of state for the first time by herself.  Remember how I mentioned that Elaina's grandparents were strict? Her granddad didn't want to let her go on this trip because he was quick to judge anything. There were many times where Elaina would have to cry just to get an okay to be able to go somewhere. Its like her granddad wanted her to just go to school and come straight home, which wasn't going to happen. Elaina began to realize that if she wanted to do something, she was going to do it anyway. 

She goes to Atlanta with the band and had an unexpected fling with someone who was already in high school. One of the drummers that was in band with her, sat beside her the entire bus ride there which was a 5 hour drive. There were 3 other people sitting around Elaina and the drummer. His name was Noah, and he was a nice person to have in eye view. Everyone else on the bus was sleep so what better way to have fun than to play truth or dare. Elaina was very timid at first because she was the only freshman. 

Here's  a little backstory, This happened at the end of Elaina's 8th grade year. She was going to be freshman in high school that following fall. 

Upon starting the truth or dare game Elaina starts paying attention to the other 3 people playing,  Micah, Chloe, and Tanya.  They seemed like cool people but Elaina had a feeling that something was off about Micah. Noah looks at Elaina and proceeds to ask the infamous question, Truth or Dare. This game was all about strategy to Elaina, so she was very careful with house much information she shared during the game. Elaina played it safe and said Truth. She wasn't prepared for the question that he asked either.  Where's the craziest place you've ever had sex?  Elaina looks at Noah and drops her head. She didn't have one because she was a virgin. The thought of being penetrated scared Elaina. She treated her body like a temple, and she definitely wasn't going to let just anybody in. Elaina always wondered why it was so easy for other girls to flirt with boys without being nervous. She wondered if the only way to get someones attention was to either have big boobs or a big booty. The stigma that if you don't have this or have that determines whether or not a man will want you, is stupid. Why should you have to exploit your body in order to get attention from a man or a boy. Elaina believed that character is what makes a person attractive. A person's character says alot about them, and Elaina had a special spark when it came to reading people and feeling their vibe.  

Noah did not pass the vibe check.
