Coincidental Sleepover

It was just a normal day at hawkins high school. Well, as normal as it can get in hawkins. There were ongoing hours of boring classes filled with teachers who definitely hated their jobs and students who hated the teachers for doing their jobs.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of writing notes the bell rang and it was time to go to lunch. Now, in an unfortunate turn of events I found myself belonging to the "popular group" which consisted of very few people who actually had personalities that I liked, but those few are what kept me there.

After a few minutes of sitting at lunch talking with a few of the cheerleaders there was a loud commotion going on behind me. I turned my head to see what it was and of course, it was none other than Eddie Munson, "The Freak," as Jason called him. I've never spoken two words to the boy but i've heard tons of stories about him whether it be from him being a drug dealer to cult leader.

Eddie was standing on the table rambling on about something to his little friend group until we could all hear what he was saying.

"... OR A GAME WHERE YOU TOSS BALLS INTO LAUNDRY BASKETS!!"

Jason stood up, "Do you want something freak?," in which Eddie only raised his hands above his head and stuck his tongue out resembling the cartoon devil on his shirt.

Jason mumbled something under his breath and Eddie pulled his arms down with a mischievous smirk.

I couldn't help but laugh a little, until Eddie's eyes dropped from Jason and fell further down the table to where I was sitting.

He stared with a smirk on his face for a few seconds before I quickly turned away. I could feel my cheeks getting hot but I didn't know why. It wasn't like me to get so flustered over something so little, especially for Eddie whom, like I said, i've never talked to before.

Chrissy: one of the few I actually did like out of the popular group; came over to me and asked why I wasn't at the Pep rally.

"Not really my setting," I said in an apologetic tone, "I bet you did amazing though!"

"Y/n...," she said in a whisper, gesturing for me to come closer.

I looked confused for a second before leaning in to hear her better.

"After the game tonight, will you please come with me to Eddie Munsons house?," She asked.

"Munson?? What're you doing with him?," I asked, concerned as to where this was going.

"I- It's not like that I promise, I've just been having a hard time, with my mom you know...," she said.

I nodded to confirm that I knew what she was talking about, I had always been sympathetic for what Chrissy had to go through with her mother.

"Look... I'm just going to buy drugs from Eddie. Something to take my mind off of things," she finished.

At first I was skeptical but it was her life and her decision so I was there to support her no matter what.

"Yeah of course, i'll come, i'll just wait outside the gym until the game is over," I replied.

I sat outside of the gym in the dark listening to a mixtape I made myself filled with Queen songs, Blondie, Abba, and my new favorite song by Tears for Fears: Head Over Heels.
