"ah!" changbin let out a painful yelp, abruptly falling off the tree and landing on his knee.

he shouldn't have climbed up the tree in the first place, but he had nothing else to do. he had no one to play with, or spend time with. he was simply, alone.

with his mother too busy with work and barely having any time with him, it was safe to say that changbin felt lonely. well, it always has been this way ever since his father had passed away.

after all, to him, his father was everything anyone could ask for. the best father changbin could ever have, he loved and admired him. he was his perfect role model.

and changbin felt safe and comfortable around his father's presence, for he was always there for him whenever he needed someone. his own safe place to go to.

he'd always spend time with his father, and he loved every moment that they spent together. unforgettable memories that changbin will never forget, his father will always be living in his heart. even until now, and probably forever.

but now that he was no longer here with him, changbin felt empty and miserable. his father wasn't there to look after him anymore, the one person he'd treasured the most. that one special person, just suddenly gone.

and changbin was heartbroken, to watch his father pass away before his eyes. almost as if he'd lost the spark to live, just nothing but pure loneliness and despair left in him.

therefore, no one was gonna replace his father, especially not jisung.

as he winced in pain, tears started swelling up in his eyes. it hurt so bad, but is it much compared to how he actually feels inside? the answer is, no. nothing could hurt more than changbin's shattered and broken heart. nothing.

"changbin!" a sudden voice cried out of nowhere, this finally drawing changbin's attention to see a worried jisung running towards him.

great, what does he want now? not only does he think he can just show up and replace his father, but the fact that living with jisung has been absolute hell for him.

he hated to watch the endless love stares between them, the endless laughter and kisses they would give each other. in fact, he already had enough. of jisung constantly in his face.

always jisung this, jisung that. when are they gonna shut up about it?

changbin's deep thoughts were soon interrupted when jisung ran over to him, immediately crouching down with one knee on the ground where the younger was sitting. "oh my gosh, are you okay?" he worriedly asked.

this only irritated changbin even more, the last person he wanted to see. "shut up, go away!" he agitatedly cried out, more tears forming in his eyes. "i don't want you here!"

however, much to his dismay, jisung didn't go away, only worriedly scanning for any wounds. "what happened? did you fall?" he continued to question in a soft voice.

"i said fuck off!" changbin yelled, aggressively attempting to get up from where he was sat.

that was when he only cried out in pain from trying to walk, this soon failing him. he only landed back down on his butt, soft sniffles coming from him seconds later.

jisung watched that happen and looked over to changbin in nothing but worry, slowly but carefully reaching one of his hands over to roll his trousers up. at first, changbin tried to push him away and prevent him from doing so, but eventually gave in when he realised it was no use.

the moment jisung saw that nasty wound where blood oozed out from changbin's knee, he only immediately widened his eyes. "hold on changbin, let me go and get the first aid kit." jisung calmly informed, quickly getting up to fetch it.

as changbin watched jisung disappear from his sight, he then pulled his legs closer to his chest, eventually hugging himself. if only his father was here, he would've kissed the pain away.

and cheered him up. but now that he was no longer there, who would do that? who would be there when changbin needed them? a safe place to go to and talk to? who would bring that longing comfort that he'd always yearned since his father's death?

it didn't take jisung long when he soon came back, the first aid kit held in his hand. as he crouched down again, he took a clean cloth and gently pressed on his wound in order to stop the bleeding before soon cleaning it with water.

changbin didn't say anything as he silently watched, empty eyes staring at jisung. he could now see certain facial features of his face that he hadn't seen before, this taking him aback.

had jisung always looked this, pretty? wait, what was he saying? there was no way that was possible, jisung's just an unbearable person to live with.

he watched as he then applied ointment from the kit, softly dabbing it around his wound. "there," jisung eventually smiled at him, while bandaging up his knee. "it's gonna be okay, i'll kiss the pain away for you."

this immediately made changbin widen his eyes, watching as jisung placed a soft kiss on his knee. what was happening? changbin didn't know, too stunned to even process what he'd just saw. jisung kissed his knee? but why?

no matter how hard he thought, nothing came to mind. only panic sent through his nerves, making changbin slightly flinch in shock. "w-what are you doing...!" he suddenly exclaimed.

"kissing it away." jisung only widened his smile, glittery eyes staring at him. "next time, don't do anything else dangerous okay? i don't wanna see you getting hurt anymore." he worriedly said.

"why do you even care?" changbin muttered under his breath, annoyed eyes looking away while folding his arms tightly. "you're not my dad."

"of course i do," he immediately answered, this causing changbin to shift his attention to him. "look, i know i may not be your dad, and i will never replace him, i promise. but even so, i still wanna look after you, and i really care about you. even though you hate me." jisung lightly chuckled.

there was silence for a moment, no words exchanged between them. it wasn't until jisung finally smiled once again, unable to take his gentle eyes off him. "and i know we might've gone off to a bad start and i understand why you hate me. i'm not gonna ask for you to like me, i just hope you can give me a chance to prove that i'm not as bad as you think i am." he explained.

that was when jisung's massive yet warm hands reach over to hold changbin's wet cheeks, gently wiping a stray tear away. only then did he suddenly lean forwards to plant a soft kiss on changbin's forehead, this making him widen his eyes in shock.

pulling away moments later, jisung only smiled widely at him.
"even if you continue to hate me,

―i'll always continue to take care of you."
