Suga tried his best to make Chaeyoung understand his side of the story, but he ended up failing as always. Their conversation escalated into a fight, resulting in Suga storming out of the house. Chaeyoung, meanwhile, remained in her room, feeling deeply depressed by the daily troubles. Despite her firm belief that Suga was a villain, a small part of her wondered if he could be innocent.
Days passed without any contact between them. Suga constantly inquired about her through Hajoon and Dowan, but Chaeyoung made no effort to reach out. As Suga's hiatus came to an end, his next big event was the Golden Disk Awards, scheduled for the upcoming week. Chaeyoung was also set to attend, making it likely that they would see each other at the event. However, with a whole week ahead, anything could happen.
After recovering from her surgery, Chaeyoung decided to visit Dowan at his office. When she walked in, she found Dowan and Hajoon deep in discussion, their faces clouded with concern. Seeing their expressions made Chaeyoung feel a bit worried.
"What's with the mood?" Chaeyoung inquired.
"You've come at the perfect time," Dowan replied, gesturing for her to take a seat. "We were just about to call you."
"Why? What's happened?" She pressed.
"I believe it's time for you to return to your office," Dowan stated gravely. "Your company needs you now more than ever."
"Why? What's going on?" Chaeyoung probed further.
"Mr. Min is planning something underhanded," Dowan explained. "He intends to infiltrate your company by sending his people to the next round of interviews. Once they're hired, they'll gradually orchestrate a takeover, aiming for complete control, not just a small share."
"How do you know all of this?" Chaeyoung frowned.
Her question prompted Dowan and Hajoon to exchange hesitant looks.
"Suga informed us," Dowan finally revealed.
"Hah! And you're just taking his word for it?" Chaeyoung scoffed.
"Chaeyoung, you need to set aside your animosity towards him," Dowan responded, his annoyance evident.
"You're hiding something, aren't you?" Chaeyoung narrowed her eyes. "You wouldn't normally defend him like this."
"I think it's time we stop keeping secrets from her," Hajoon interjected, turning to Dowan. "She deserves to know."
"Know what? Just tell me already," Chaeyoung urged anxiously.
Hajoon cleared his throat before speaking, each word he uttered delivered a heavier blow than the last. Tears began streaming down Chaeyoung's face, her shock and sorrow overwhelming her. She remained speechless, shaking her head in disbelief.
"It's okay, Chaeyoung-ah, let's not dwell on this," Dowan attempted to console her.
"How could you let something like this happen?" Her voice cracked with sorrow. "Now I feel like I'm dying with guilt."
