The day of the Golden Disc Awards arrived, yet Chaeyoung found herself unable to leave her bed, not due to physical pain but because of the anguish in her heart. Despite her reluctance, she knew she had to attend the ceremony.
As artists took their turns on stage, she struggled, feeling weak and hesitant. Jeongyeon's reassuring grip on her hand gave her a slight boost, helping her to reach their designated spot. However, seeing him exacerbated her distress. When BTS was called up next, thoughts of Suga, whom she hadn't seen in three weeks, flooded her mind. Initially relieved by his absence, her emotions had shifted, and guilt gnawed at her.
After the opening, as everyone settled into their seats, she felt a desperate urge to escape, especially with him seated directly in front of her. She tried to dismiss her feelings, but they overwhelmed her. Without fully understanding her emotions, she found herself fleeing towards the waiting rooms, driven to end her torment.
Approaching BTS's waiting room, she summoned every ounce of courage left in her, and with trembling hands, she knocked. A staff member answered the door since the boys were in the sitting area.
"Ah! Chaeyoung-shi" the girl said "you must be looking for Suga"
"Y- yes, actually" she stuttered "I know he's in the sitting area but can you do me a favour and call him for me. It's important, I need to talk to him"
"Sure!" The girl smiled "just come in and wait for him"
As she walked in the staff members walked out aiming to give the couple some privacy. She back faced the door and waited nervously for Suga to come. She was all shaking as though it was their first meeting. Suddenly she heard the door clacking which made her freeze, then she instinctively closed her eyes, uncertain of her next move.
"What made you break the silence after three weeks?" Suga asked as soon as he entered the waiting room.
Chaeyoung had no words, only grief and regret. Unable to control her tears, she turned around, rushed towards him, and threw herself into his embrace, wailing uncontrollably. This unexpected display of vulnerability from her concerned him deeply. Chaeyoung wasn't the type to show her weaknesses, especially not in front of him. Suga couldn't help but feel troubled, so he held her tightly and gently patted her back.
"What happened?" He whispered into her ear, his voice filled with concern. "Why are you crying?"
"I—I said all those harsh words to you, but you still chose to save me," she sobbed, her voice breaking with emotion.
"W-what?"
"Stop hiding it," she lifted her head to look at him, tears streaming down her face. "I know you're the donor. You gave me your kidney after everything I said to you," she sobbed, her voice choked with emotion.
"What did you expect me to do, huh? Sit back and watch you die?" Suga replied, his voice filled with a mixture of sadness and relief as he embraced her even tighter. "The thought of losing you scared me to death."
"I don't deserve this. I'm so sorry," Chaeyoung cried even louder, her words punctuated by gasps of sorrow.
"Shhh, stop crying. It's nothing," he murmured softly, brushing her tears away with his thumb. "You know I'd do anything for Mrs. Tenacious," he said with a tender smile, gently tapping her nose to lighten the mood.
"Every word I've said to you, I said it because I meant to hurt you. You told me countless times that you were innocent, but I chose to live in denial and never believe you" Chaeyoung clenched her fist that was on his chest until her knuckles became white.
"Stop thinking about that, what happened to you wasn't easy either" he tried to make her feel less guilty as he held her hand "I would've probably done the same if I were in your shoe"
Chaeyoung and Suga finally reconciled. Despite all their fights and insults, they managed to mend their relationship and become a real couple.
However, Chaeyoung couldn't shake off her guilt. No matter how many times Suga assured her that she wasn't to blame, she never found peace. Their relationship strengthened over time, and he became her closest confidant, but the painful memories she caused the person who saved her from death continued to haunt her. Today, unable to forgive herself any longer, she decided it was time to punish herself.
