How is it possible? Chiyo Kurenai. You refuse to die, no matter how many different ways it is written to happen. Where is it? I furiously searched for her record in the Reaper Library. I had to be quick before Will caught me. Although it gave me chills when he glared at me in anger, I was on a mission; I would find out why this Chiyo Kurenai would not die.

After an hour, I finally came to an impossible conclusion; her record was not in the library. It was like she didn't exist. How can that be possible? If she's human, even half-human, than her human half would enable her to have a record. Even demons have a cinematic record, although they don't have one in the library. Perhaps I will have to pay Chiyo a visit and see what her cinematic record reveals. It would be an incredible opportunity to see my Bassy.

My pleasant thoughts were interrupted by a menacing aura.

"Will!" I cried, "Have you come to spend some time alone with me? I notice there's no one else in the library."

"No," he said, pushing his glasses up on his nose with the tip of his reaper scythe, "I'm here to see why you are ransacking the reaper library when you already have loads of overtime that you should be tending to."

"I'm doing something equally useful. I'm finding out why Chiyo Kurenai will not die."

"That is not useful. No reaper has been able to figure it out and it has been labelled a dead end. Now, get back to work."

Ah, the way Will instructs me so sternly, it is absolutely invigorating.

"Yes, Sir!" I said, winking. He rolled his eyes and walked out the door and I followed behind.

"So, what do we know about Chiyo Kurenai?" I asked.

"Nothing much. Since we haven't been able to find her record, we only have her supposed-to-be-deaths on the to-die list recorded. However, since you spent time with her while you were in the human world, behaving against regulations, you may know more about her than the rest of us."

When will he ever let go of that? It's been almost two weeks.

"Well, I know that she doesn't seem to know where her own inhuman abilities come from and neither does Bassy or the brat. She does appear to be incredibly strong, whatever she is, since she was still standing, even after being launched into a wall."

"Yes, you did run a rather useful experiment unintentionally. Were there any tell-tale signs of what she is when you looked at her?"

"No. She just appears to be an average, boring, unattractive human girl with special strength. No reaper eyes, no demon-eyes when she becomes angry, and I can't be sure of angel, but I've never seen wings."

"What kind of characteristics does she exhibit in personality? Does she lean toward any particular side in behavior?" Will asked.

"She seems loving and motherly, like an angel. She's very friendly and seems to want to see the best in everyone." I became distracted thinking about the way she had treated myself when I was acting as a helpless butler. She had perhaps been the most kind to me at that time.

"I would say you almost sound fond of the girl now," Will said, fixing his glasses again.

"Of course not! I'm simply stating how she behaves," I said, crossing my arms, "Anyway, she seems to have a dark side to her too. A sadistic side that enjoyed my pain. She doesn't seem to fear blood or seeing other's wounds, but she does seem to hate the idea of death."

"Hmm. Well you were her attacker, so having a hatred and lack of sympathy toward you is not abnormal. As it stands, it seems that she, at most, has a high tolerance for gore, which any human could have at random."

"It's not just a tolerance, though. It seems to almost fascinate her, the way mortality affects humans. She may not think of it, but I could see in her eyes a curiosity when she saw the blood of that prostitute."

"That is interesting. It rules out angel, unless we are dealing with a very corrupted angel half of her."

"What are you thinking?"

"Demon," Will said, "It's the most likely. It would explain her fascination with death, and her human side would be what adds the morality and dislike of innocent people suffering."

I nodded and Will gave me a sharp shove.

"Don't be shy Will, you don't have to stop there," I said, smiling.

"Just get back to work," Will sighed, fixing his glasses once more before leaving. I realized we were outside. Might as well get back to work. It will make it that much easier to slip away and pay Bassy and Chiyo a visit. Will's theories are not a satisfying enough answer.
