When all of us were called to Ciel's office, safe to say, I was suspicious. When I realized that all of us but Sebastian were there, I was even more suspicious. When Ciel presented a camera and set it on his desk, color me curious where this meeting was going.
"This camera, is supposed to show the thing or person the person in the photograph loved most," Ciel said, "Finny, will you hold still for a picture?"
Finny stood up straight and held his breath.
"This will take ten seconds," Ciel said.
"Nine, and ten. You can stop, Finny. You didn't have to hold your breath."
Finny gasped for air and I giggled. Ciel made the room dark and placed the photo in a clear liquid. He took the photo out carefully and I saw Finny, his cheeks puffed from holding his breath, and in the background, I saw a bird.
"A bird?" I said.
"That was my little birdy," Finny said, "I met him in the garden once a while ago. But he's gone now."
"Did I forget to mention it shows only things that are no longer of this world," Ciel said.
"You know, you always forget to mention the morbid half of everything you drag us into," I said, crossing my arms. Ciel grinned and shrugged.
"So, is that all you brought us here for was to show off your new toy?" I asked.
"No. I also had another task for you all. I want you to try to take a photograph of Sebastian using this camera," Ciel said.
"What?" I said.
The other servants became excited at the prospect, seeing it as a fun challenge.
"You know this will be difficult," I said, "Even they realize Sebastian is not an easy person to sneak up on."
"I know. But I think you will be perfectly capable. Perhaps it will even reveal the extent of your abilities."
I sighed, "Now I really do feel like you mother, playing along with your silly games because I care for."
I groaned. I had made another slip. They were happening more often.
"You feel that I'm like your own child?" Ciel said, staring off into space.
"Yes, somewhat. I don't have children of my own, but being around you, I realize I want nothing more. And I've come to care for you as I know I would my own children. You really have become like my own to me."
He was silent for such a long while that the servants had finally quieted down and became fidgety.
"So, should we begin?" Bard asked.
Ciel blinked a few times, "Yes. Please get to it."
The servants cheered and ran off with the camera. I started to follow but Ciel stopped me.
"Chiyo, wait a moment."
"Yes, Ciel."
"How can you have come to love me in so short a time?"
"How do you trust me after so short a time?"
"You've been nothing but kind. You've saved my life and Elizabeth's. Without being asked, you've been willing to risk your life to protect me. I have so many reasons to trust you, but I don't understand why you're willing to make these sacrifices."
"Maybe, it's because you and I are so alike and yet so different. We both lost our parents at a young age, but you lost yours when you had already known them and you had to suffer when I grew up mostly happy. I look at your and all your pain and I want to give you the happiness I had. I don't really know why, but it's just the way I feel. I feel that you deserve happiness just as much as I did."
