He stumbled sideways as Charlie fell to the ground, Nathan hit the ground and stared at me in shock before attempting to react, before he could I ran and kicked him in the face, he grabbed onto his face while roaring in pain.

I walked over to Charlie and stooped down to face him, he looked at me and for some reason I couldn't read his expression, I pulled him to his feet and turned around to see my dad and everyone else watching at me, dad didn't look so pleased, in fact he was scowling at me.

"Jace what are you doing?" I didn't reply " didn't I tell you that he had to go away for a while?" I still didn't reply.

Doesn't he know that leaving for a while is completely different from getting beat up?

He probably doesn't care, like duh.

"Jace, move away from Charlie" I shook my head, and dad left out a sigh "Jace I said move away from him" I didn't budge and he started moving towards me.

I acted on impulse and the next thing I knew I was running out the kitchen door while holding onto Charlie's hand.

I ran to my jeep and was close when I felt someone tug me back, I turned around and looked at Charlie.

"What are you doing?"

"Jace.... let's go back inside."

I looked at the calmness in his face "why?"

"Because I can't bear to see you get hurt because of me."

"But you think I could?"

"No I don't, it's just it's better that I get hurt instead of you."

"I don't want either of us to get hurt, I don't want you to get in trouble because of me, or going away and leaving me, cause that would hurt both of us."

"Look it's better this way."

"Better, better than what? please tell me cause can't think of anything."

"It's better than you feeling like your family hates you, like you ruined everything, it's better than you feeling shame and embarrassment, cause no matter how many times people tell you it's okay and they don't hate you, you will fell like they do after telling them about what happened with Danniel."

"No it's better for us to stay together, I won't let you feel pain because me, in fact I'll go tell them right now."

"No, you say you won't, but later you'll regret it and I can't see you like that, id rather suffer this, than see you like that."

"No you can't leave me, I won't let-" before I could finish darkness took over.

I released my grip on Jace's neck and held his now limp body to me, I couldn't let him hurt himself just to save me, it's not like I haven't been through it before, I went to the mansion many times, to receive punishment for doing things I shouldn't have. I couldn't bear to see him slip into his depression again, of course he doesn't remember it, because his father ensured that wouldn't happen, not after watching his aunt die and blaming himself for it, she died because, they were captured by the German mafia and he watched as they carved her up right in front of him, when he came back he was like a shell. He looked horrible half the time he was elsewhere in his mind, so his dad some how got rid of his memories.

So me being punished would be nothing compared to seeing him like that again, I kissed his forehead and turned around to see his dad glaring at me, he came over, took Jace out of my arms and through him over his shoulder.

"Come on, you have to leave."

I nodded and went into the back seat of the hummer.
