Murphy

Murphy walked in front of Jaha as he rambled on and on about how amazing life was. "It's extraordinary, isn't it?" Thelonious asked in awe.

Murphy sighed, "Oh, just give it a few days."

"I may not know everything that happened before I got down here, "Jaha admitted, "but I do know something about what you're feeling, son."

Murphy stopped dead in his tracks—there were two things people weren't allowed to call him: Johnathan and son—and angrily stated, "Don't call me that. I'm nobody's son," he glared at Jaha, "You made sure of that."

Marcus made him take Jaha to the dropship, because he picked the worst time to come searching for Eve; it was also Murphy's fault for not locking the door. If Marcus Kane didn't hate Murphy before, he sure as hell did now.

They walked through the woods, and Jaha stated, "I remember your father."

            Murphy scoffed, "Yeah, right."

"Alex Murphy," Jaha continued, "convicted of theft of rationed medicine. He stole it to take care of you. I remember them all."

They walked to the charred forest surrounding the dropship, and Murphy said, "We're here, home sweet home. Graveyard's this way."

Night had fallen along with rain, and Jaha was still at the grave of his son. "You about done?" Murphy asked un-empathetically, "We got to be heading back."

Jaha blurted out, "How well did you know him?"

Murphy sighed, "Well enough for Eve and I to be hung for his murder," Jaha looked up at Murphy in shock, "Clarke sugar-coated it for you, didn't she?"

Jaha stood up slowly, and bravely asked, "What happened to my son?"

"Twelve year old girl stabbed him in the neck with a knife she took from me," Murphy spat.

He was at a loss for words, and Jaha stuttered, "Why would she do that?"

"She couldn't kill you," Murphy huffed, "Yeah, so you have a lot of blood on your hands, Chancellor. Every single one of them, including your son, would still be alive if you hadn't sent us down here—hell, even Eve wouldn't feel completely dead inside over all those kids, because the guilt ate her alive! She was like your daughter, Chancellor, and you sent her down here to die. Shows you how much you care about your people."

Jaha argued, "If I didn't send you, they would have died on the Ark with the rest of us, and we would have never known that Earth was survivable. Their sacrifice is why we are here. Good can come out of even the darkest acts, John."

"Tell that to Eve," Murphy snapped, and walked away. He sarcastically stated, "Camp you is that way."

Jaha walked to the dropship and replied, "We'll rest at the dropship for a while."

Then, he disappeared from behind the fence, and Murphy quietly remarked, "Suit yourself."

Jaha and Murphy sat on the floor of the dropship in silence, but Murphy liked it that way. From a metal tin, Jaha offered Murphy a white candy, but Murphy just shook his head in refusal.
