"That key card opens the door, but unfortunately, the Russian with this key card also has a massive gun. Whatever's in this room, whatever's in those boxes, they really don't want anybody finding it." Dustin explained, walking back and forth in the break room.
It was the next day, and Steve and I were sitting at the table as Dustin explained what he had seen that morning when he had gone back up to the roof again. "But there's gotta be a way in." I stated, leaning back in my chair.
"Well, you know..." Steve began, as he put his white sailor hat down on the table and leaned forward. "I could just take him out." He stated.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked back up at him. "Take who out?" I inquired.
"The Russian guard." He said bluntly. I sat back in my chair with a scoff. Oh, yeah, I'm sure he could. "What? I sneak up behind him, I knock him out, and I take his key card. It's easy." He explained as he leaned back.
"Did you not hear the part about the massive gun?" Dustin questioned Steve, his arms crossed.
"Yes, Dustin, I did." Steve claimed. "And that's why I would be sneaking." He emphasized while motioning with his two fingers.
"Ah. Well, please, tell me this, and be honest, have you ever actually...won a fight?" Dustin asked him, walking towards him.
I smiled, recalling when I had actually won a fistfight with Steve Harrington once. "Okay, that was one time-" Steve began, but was quickly interrupted by Dustin.
"Twice. Y/n. Year prior?" Dustin reminded him.
"Listen, that doesn't count." Steve corrected him, looking over at me.
"What?! Like hell that doesn't count!" I yelled, leaning forward in my seat. That 100% counts.
"Why wouldn't it? Because it looks like she beat the shit out of you." Dustin noted. I nodded and looked away with a scoff.
"It was..." Steve started, but then his eyebrows furrowed. "Hey! You weren't even there." He protested.
"You got a fat lip, crooked nose, swollen eye, a lot of blood..."
"Nuh uh."
I shook my head and looked away from Steve, my eyes landed on the vent shaft cover that was on the wall. That was our way into the delivery bay. "That just might work." I said out loud as I got up, grabbed my backpack and ran out to the register and grabbed the handful of tips that were in the designated jar.
"Y/n." Steve called from behind the window. "Hey, Campbell!" I ran out to the front of the store before turning back to Steve.
"Hey, what- what are you doing?" Steve called out as he ran through the door, followed by Dustin.
"I need cash." I said with a smile.
"Well, half of that's mine." He expressed. I rolled my eyes. "Where're you going?" He continued.
"To find a way into that room, a safe way. And, in the meantime, sling ice cream, behave, and don't get beat up...again. I'll be back soon and I'll pay you back." I explained and soon left in a hurry.
After half an hour, I came back to Starcourt on my bike. "It is fascinating what 20 bucks will get you at the County Recorder's Office." I said as I placed a map of Starcourt onto the table. "Starcourt Mall. The complete blueprints." I said.
"Not bad." Dustin said with a smile, and I smiled back.
"Thanks! So, this is us, Scoops, and this is where we want to get." I pointed at the Starcourt layout. Scoops Ahoy was down on the left, and where we needed to be was up to the middle of the mall.
