Chapter 16
Invisible“The blue balls is not that bad especially when you can ignore the pet rat and the scantily dressed women eating.” Bernie closed Flora’s door.
Koruna chuckled, “I knew it was your kind of scene.”
Flora rolled her eyes at them. “Did you get what you need?”
“A bit, right?” Koruna asked Oni who nodded.
Flora dropped them at the boundary and went her way while Oni dropped off Bernie at their mansion.
“We are going to my house today for the assignment.” Oni dragged Koruna by the collar when she tried to drop from the car.
“Words, use your words…” She muttered and fastened her seat belt.
Oni noticed she was tense as they drew further from the Ballan’s castle. “What are you so afraid of?”
“I am not afraid.”
“They are just rumors, my family would not kill people unprovoked.” Oni told her as a way to lessen her nerves.
“Oh… I am not afraid of blood.”
“Why are you nervous then?”
“I am not.”
“You are.”
“Since when did you pay that much attention to people, mind your business.” Koruna snapped.
“I don’t pay attention to people, just to you.”
“What?” her eyes widened.
“Do you like me?” She whispered.
“I guess.” Oni replied while driving without looking at her.
“Whaaaaatttttt?!” Koruna wheezed.
He smirked and stared at her.
“Is that what you are afraid of? Relax… I like you like I like cats.”
“You see me as a pet?”
“Something of the sort, except you clean up after yourself.” He seemed pleased by his joke.
“I feel like I should be offended but I am flattered. What does that say about me?”
Oni turned a corner… “Do you question every emotion you feel?”
“Yes, so I know how to avoid unpleasant emotions.”
“That must be exhausting.”
“No, I find it fun because it also helps me understand people.”
He nodded… “Do you understand me?”
“You are a work in progress.”
“You are not my type. I prefer ignorant, simpler women. It makes everything easier.”
"I'll take that as a compliment."
The gate opened and Koruna was amazed at the architectural marvel. The entire place seemed to have been in either white or black color. It was difficult to tell where the door was, the people were dressed in black suit with tags. Koruna had never been so close to many weapons at the same time.
There seemed to be all manner of security before gaining entrance to the house. No one talked to Oni and Koruna as they made their way through several security checks. The doors worked with sensors, the place was eerily silent despite the number of people available.
“It almost seems like talking is illegal here.” Koruna whispered.
“Why are you whispering?” He asked.
