I've been planning this flashback for quite sometime now. I know some of you have been waiting for this particular backstory too.
This one would definitely have a different feel to it... Expecting you all to read it open-mindedly. 🙈
Also, do let me know how it was, and don't forget to Vote. ❤️Also, I would like to thank you all, especially the ones who gets me going, that without your constant support this story would've not been possible.
I know at times you go to extends to ensure this story is promoted, and I can't tell you how teary that makes me feel. So full with all the love, all the affection.
I can't thank you enough. You are truly my family!..................................................................
Circa 1917
He walked in with an angel-like aura around him, or so did she believe. She saw his magnetic self confidence. She felt their chemistry in that moment before they even spoke a word. Then came his voice, reverberating through the microphone from stage, so deep and steady. And, that first impression stayed in her soul as a sort of bright camera flash, a moment captured in high definition.
Such was Candice's first impression of Anirudh Roy Chowdhury, larger than words, so much so that only her soul could see it!
Anirudh was fifteen, so was she...
He was preparing for the law school, the most handsome black eyed boy in campus, and Candice knew she was in love.
They had never spoken, and occasionally her best friend Danielle would nudge her with her elbow when he would pass by, with his band of boys, not once sparing a glance at her, but that single moment of sight would raise her heartbeat."Tell him, you fool!" Danielle would tease her, and she would pout in faint defiance, longingly gazing at the path he had trodden.
"I will Danny... One day for sure!"
She would sigh, and her doe-eyed would dote for him, her heart full of dreams, and her eyes drawing his portrait with the rays of the sun.
Sometimes she would sit by the classroom window, letting the breeze touch her lips, and she would imagine the outline of his red thin lips on hers. Her heartbeat would pound, and she would excuse herself to the confinement of the cathedral."Forgive me Father... For I have sinned!"
She would usually start with. The confession cell was the sole witness to many such warm stories of the heart, the story of two souls... One aloof and the other pinning.
Anirudh Roy Chowdhury was a good speaker... No, the adjective would be 'great', and everytime he would lead the high school with newfound accolades, Candice would cheer the loudest, yet always from a point where their eyes wouldn't meet.
She would clap... She would whistle out loud, and then she would clear her throat to resume her ladylike demeanor."And the winner of this year's Annual Debate Championship goes to...."
Candice knew the name even before the voice on the conical speakers announced it...
Her hands were on her pounding heart, her fingers crossed, and her ears turned red as she heard his name."Anirudh Roy Chowdhury....once again...with a margin of... "
Nothing registered anymore, nothing mattered... Not the colourful chirping birds on the green trees, not the rainbow not the northern breeze that she was so fond of... For her eyes had seen her precious...
Danielle had heard her sigh, and she had sighed too, her eyes on another boy standing beside Anirudh.
"He looks like a Prince... doesn't he!" Candice inhaled the fragnance of the wind, her eyes not leaving his sight and Danny smirked at her.
