The RayBahadur Palace appeared a couple of shades dull, soulless, compared to the sunny countenance of the day.
It's only fair, Satya had thought, that mother nature would deprive this place of her natual positive glow, the place that had been a seat of treachery, a hearth of sin for so many years now!
There wasn't anyone at the hall, no one to greet him, or ask him about his whereabouts, and Satya in a very inconspicuous way, walked past the staircase, and lead himself to Raimoti bedroom.

"Miss Mukherjee?" He called her name and waited for a minute for her to respond.
"Miss Mukherjee, May I come in?"

He placed his hand on the door, and a slight push made it flung open.
Satya frowned at the broken latch, it looked like someone had detached the iron latch forcefully stripping the room off it's privacy.

"And here comes my executioner..."

The melodious playful voice made Satya look up, and he saw her, standing under the decorative wall-arch that connected the bedroom with the small attached study. She was wearing a white bathrobe, partly dampened, wrapped around her waist and reaching down a little below her knees. Her hair was wet too, as water droplets dripped down her chin, making their way through her neck and fading in the deep crevices of her sculpted breasts.

Satya gulped.
"Executioner? I'm hurt, Miss."

Raimoti smiled, that infectious, bewildering smile! She was limping, her hands had clutched the curtains firmly, as she slowly staggered forward, inching towards the bed, with one step at a time.

"My bad, I've given your needles a little too credit, Daktar Babu, they aren't that tough enough to be an executioner's weapon." She smirked playfully at him.

Satya too, smiled back, her contagious brightness was infecting him as well. His eyes fell on the dampened bandages on her feet and he let out a soft sigh.
"You weren't supposed to wet those... How could... " His eyes pointed at her feet as Raimoti let out another melodious chuckle without letting him complete.

"I could, as I know you would fix them again." Her eyes were buried in his, as he slowly neared the bedside table and kept his medicine box on it.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Rai had suddenly asked, without looking, as she busied herself with the struggle to seat back on the bed.

"I did. Thanks." Satya smiled courteously.

"Did the bed bugs bite?"

"Bed bugs?"
He threw a light glance at her, his hands busy preparing the cotton swabs and the bandages.

"Oh... I thought you sneaked out last night because of them... Or was it me? Or..." She waited for him to look at her.
"Or could it be that you sleepwalk at night!"

Satya realised that his late night escapade wasn't hidden from her.
"Were you spying?" He raised an eyebrow.

"No... Just curious." She let out a sigh and leaned back, letting her body relax on the cushioned bedpost. She had stretched her legs as Satya very carefully picked her feet up, placing them gently on his lap, one by one.

Raimoti's eyes were fixated on him.
"So... The bedbugs did bite you it seems!"

Her words had made him look up, as she pointed at the single scratch on his arm, a fresh unattended cut, with a little blood clot.

Satya smiled.
"That could be a nail scratch as well Madam, or may be a medical injury!"

"Nail scratch sounds more interesting!"
Raimoti had leaned back again, her eyes closed, as Satya sat in silence, dressing her wounds with utmost perfection.
