Thea's P.O.V.

After I hung up from my Captain, I quickly got dressed and put a little make-up on my eyes so I didn't look like a walking zombie today and brushed my teeth.

I grabbed my gun and badge and walked out of my apartment, setting my alarm on my security system and locked the door behind me.

I got in my car and stopped off at the coffee shop just down the street from my place.

"Hey Thea. Do you want your normal?" The friendly college guy asked as he dried his hands off.

"Yes and could I get the ham and cheese croissant sandwich too?"

He smiled, "You got it."

After I left, I ate my sandwich in the car and headed to the crime scene.

******
I flashed my badge that was hooked on my pants before going under the tape line and headed for the house.

"Hey Woods, so much for your day off, huh?" Scott, a tech from the crime lab asked.

"At this point I don't even know what that means." I replied honestly.

He started laughing. "Scenes all yours, it's through that door."

I let out a sigh and walked in. There was an older man leaning up against the wall with a bullethole in his chest. I walked further in and saw a second victim, a woman laying on the floor. "What's her name?" I asked Ethan; another homicide detective from the office.

He was examining her body before he stood up. "Victoria Miller, sixty eight. The second victim over there is Daniel Miller, seventy."

Victoria Miller?

Nothing was broken and everything seemed to be here. Doesn't seem like there was any forced entry but the killer definitely was here for Victoria.

Daniel just had a gunshot to the chest, he died fast. Victoria didn't, she went through a lot more before her death.

"I'm guessing Daniel opened the door, the shooter or shooters shot him and then came for Victoria?"

"That's my theory also. Maggie is working up all the information on the family now. Do you recognize her?"

I nodded. "Yeah. She was a public prosecutor for many years and a very good one. I didn't recognize her until you said her name."

"Mhmm."

I motioned around the house, "So my guess is it's most likely over money because they were very well off or revenge for a case probably."

"Nothing in this house is destroyed. Looking at Victoria, this was personal."

I nodded in agreement.

I walked around the rest of the house, noticing the same thing that Ethan had said. Everything was in place. If this was about money or an object, things tend to be thrown around. Everything was intact throughout the house and the safe in their bedroom was untouched.

Walking back into the living room I saw Jerry; the coroner. He smiled as he looked over at me. "I thought today was your day off Woods? Didn't you solve your case yesterday?"

I started laughing. "You're the second person that said that to me today. I thought so too. What's the time of death?"

"Around 10pm last night. Which puts the screams and shots witnesses heard around then too. The gunshot wound is the cause of death for both victims, though Mrs. Miller put up a fight. Unfortunately we didn't find any other DNA anywhere on her."
