Thea's P.O.V.
The next morning came way too fast. I headed back into work and told Gray and Briggs what Aaron said about the vases. They were currently being held in a place, even I didn't know about.
After work I headed straight home. It was a long week and I planned on using this weekend to hopefully relax.
I just got out of the shower, was drying my hair and trying to decide where I was going to order food from tonight when there was a knock on my door. I hurried and hung my towel up on the back of the bathroom door before going to see who it was.
I looked out my peephole. Aaron?
I opened the door slowly, "Aaron... what are you doing here?"
"You did say, dinner at my place tomorrow night.... It's tomorrow night."
"I never-"
"Yes, you did. Before we went into Derek and Sofias last night." He lifted up the stuff in his arms, "I brought pizza and wine for us."
"Yeah, I said that as long as we didn't go into their house... but we did. So this date is now void."
"We both know I'm not going to let this go."
I looked out the door to make sure no one saw us.
"Nobody knows I'm here and nobody saw me come up." He leaned in closer and whispered, "I'm like a ninja."
I smiled as I shook my head. "A ninja?"
"Mhmm."
Rolling my eyes, I motioned for him to come in. "Alright. Come on."
He walked in with a big smile on his face, placed the pizza on my table and set the bottle of wine down.
"Where are your wine glasses?" He asked.
"I'll get them." I went into the cupboard, grabbed two glasses and plates and took them over to Aaron.
He poured our wine while I put a few pieces of pizza on our plates.
I handed him his plate. "Thank you." He leaned down and kissed me. This guy always seemed to surprise me.
We walked over to the couch and sat down next to each other. "So my daughter informed me that I owed you an apology."
After my bite I put my pizza back down on my plate. "For what?"
"I'm sorry I didn't ask you first before just showing up at their house last night. I just really wanted you there with me and I knew you would have told me no."
"You're right, I would have. Aaron I don't do holidays at all. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter... it's all just another day for me. I swear to God, if you kidnap me at Christmas too, I'm going to kick your ass."
Aaron started laughing. "I won't. What about your foster parents? You don't go to their house?"
I shrugged my shoulders, "I was only with them a little over a year, I didn't get real close. I mean, they were absolutely wonderful people and tried including me but I shut them out. They weren't my parents or sister."
"I understand. After my wife died, holidays just weren't the same, especially Christmas... but I had my daughter so I tried keeping all of our traditions but she's grown now so I go along with her family stuff now.
I nodded, "Christmas has always been the hardest for me too. Ever since I made Detective I seem to always have that day off, so I made my own little tradition. Every year I order Mexican food because that was my sister's favorite food, I bake chocolate chip cookies because that was what we always made with Mom for Santa and then I read my Dad's favorite book, 'To Kill A Mockingbird' because that was my dad's favorite book." I giggled, "Dad was a middle school English teacher. He got the book when he was a little boy and brought it to school when the students read it in class. It's practically falling apart but." I shrugged my shoulders, swallowing hard.
