23- Christmas

Thea's P.O.V.

My feet swiftly hit the ground as I ran through Central Park on this cold Christmas morning. I couldn't sleep, so what better way to clear my head at 5:00 in the morning than a run.

It was quiet and not very busy yet, there were only a handful of people out walking or running which didn't happen very often and it was nice.

There was a dusting of snow on the ground and frost in the trees, making the Christmas lights that were still lit up look even more beautiful.

6:00, the sun was starting to come up, which meant it was time for some caffeine.

I walked into the coffee shop down the road from my apartment. They had just opened so they weren't busy yet. I took off my mittens and walked straight up to the counter. "Good morning and Merry Christmas."

I smiled back at the lady behind the counter, "Merry Christmas."

"What can I get for you this morning?"

I looked up at the menu for a moment, "I'm going to get the peppermint mocha, three regular coffees, four cranberry muffins and four of your cinnamon roll muffins." I handed her my card, "Oh and could you put one of each muffin in a separate bag and the rest in another?"

"Absolutely."

After I paid I was waiting on my order when I felt my phone vibrating. Reaching in my pocket I pulled out my phone and opened my message...

Aaron- Merry Christmas, Beautiful 🎄🎅

I started to smile. Aaron was back in New York but I put distance between us again. I would still talk to him on the phone and text but that's all I allowed.

Me- Merry Christmas

Aaron- You have the boys up awfully early this morning. Zac's grumpy!

Me- Send them home. I'll be fine today. My order is ready, I have to go... have a good day with Sofia and your family.

I put my phone away and went up to the counter. "Thank you, have a good day."

I grabbed the cup holder and bags and headed out the door. I made my way across the street and over to Zac and the other guys in their SUV and lightly knocked.

Zac rolled down his window, "Morning boys. Here."

I handed them the muffins and drinks. "You didn't have to do that, Thea."

"Yes I did, now go home. It's Christmas, take the day off. I'll call if I need you."

"You know we cant-"

"If you don't, I'll have you arrested. Go home, Zac. Be with your family!" I smiled and took my coffee out of the holder and headed into my apartment.

I closed and locked my apartment door and set the alarm. I walked over to the table, set my bag down and took a sip of my coffee, "Yum, that's good."

Taking another sip of my coffee, I went over and plugged in my Christmas tree. I adjusted one of the ornaments and smiled seeing it all lit up before going back to my table to finish breakfast.

After my shower, I sat down and started watching 'The Proposal'. It was just about over now and I was thinking about making a batch of cookies and start reading my Dad's book when there was a knock on my door. I looked over at the time, confused as to who it would be. "Who in the hell?" I uncovered, got up, walked over to my door and looked out my peephole.

I opened the door and looked at Aaron, confused. "Aaron? What are you doing here?"

"It's Christmas."

"I know that, I thought you were having Christmas with Sofia and your family today?"
